WOW Hollywood

These days when you see a remake or reboot many people think Hollywood has run out of ideas and many more people will tell you that line is overused, it's not true, stop being a troll, etc. But this... I dare anyone to tell me it's not true after seeing this.
As for you Hollywood, you're pathetic, I pity you.

Is it not a matter for tears that, when the number of worlds is infinite, I have not conquered one?

reply

What original ideas do you have?

reply

None. But then again, I'm not getting paid 100k+ $ and living like a king in L.A. like the writers, producers and actors in Hollywood who 'create' these 'masterpieces'

The point is every kinds of stories has been done. The USA has made like a billion movies already. So you understand the sequels, remakes and prequels.

Hollywood could and should at least try harder to be original.
Too many movies based on comics and bestselling books in recent years.

reply

Actually there are plenty of original movies and shows being made. You just have to look for them. But HW has made too many movies by this point. Stop thinking you're all smart by telling them to come up with something original.

wow...after reading that conversation its fairly obvious who ISN'T the smart one. Get a clue man. I wrote a short story last week & its original...but its not gonna earn me 100+k.
Either you've got SUCH a hard on for the Rush Hour franchise that you'll rush to defend any abysmal remake of it...OR...you simply cannot see unoriginality & the fact that hollywood is regurgitating more and more remakes

reply

No you failed. I'll give Hollywood a pass since they have made many movies by his point. Then we always have some damn fool who points out originality every time. So what if your story is original. Doesn't mean it could be good. No I don't have a hard on for this series but it could work since the movies were good enough. Look for more series made from movies coming soon.

Some examples of "plenty" original movies, please?
Are any of them as successfully "mainstream" as the countless adaptations of comics and bestsellers?
Indies and TV don't count.

reply

Go find them yourself. I am ok with the current stuff.

reply

So did you fail to prove your claim?

reply

Why would they try to make something original when they can just put out Fast And Furious 12, *beep* reality shows for 12 seasons like Keeping up with the Krapdashians and whatnot, and then still make tons of money?

Same with video games..if you want something original you gotta dig for some Indie stuff where people care about the art medium and not just how soon they can buy another yacht.

reply

Trending "mainstream" U.S.-made VGs (Uncharted, CoD, GTA, etc.) prioritize graphics, but subordinate aesthetic originality.
What happened to artistic classics like CB, Spyro, and Sly Cooper?
I'll give Infamous, HR, and AC a pass.

reply

I have hundreds of original ideas for Hollywood, they are called books. For example "The Lower Limit" by Janusz Zajdel (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Limes_inferior) would be awesome on screen.

reply

Adaptations are not original.

I don't consider television shows as being "Hollywood." That's usually used to describe the movie industry. It's not that the networks have run out of ideas; it's that they're scared to try something different. That's why you have some of the best shows being made by the alternative outlets like HBO, Netflix, Amazon, Showtime, Hulu, etc. Different is their middle name. As long as the networks give us tripe like this, they'll continue to lose the market share of viewers.

Let me give these writers a new idea for their next project: "Shanghai Noon," with two unknown actors.

The writers: "You'd have to wake up pretty early in the morning to think of a good idea before us. We've already pitched that one."

I'm sure they have.

reply

It's the fault of the people for supporting it.

You'd think as pop culture and celebrity obsessed society is people would at least understand how this type of stuff works.

The best, most guaranteed way to make money or get ratings is to make a film/show that was not only successful to some extent but the more important one being AN ESTABLISHED fan base. This is why we see prequels, sequels, remakes, book to movie/shows all the time.

because people will see it regardless. They will always make money even if it sucks.

It's really easy to shut all of it down......Simply don't watch it or buy tickets to go see it. Hollywood will very quickly get the picture people aren't supporting their 'get rich quick' schemes anymore then they'll have no choice but to move on.

They do whatever makes money. That includes hopping on popular bandwagons ie: zombies, super heroes, etc. We have tons of those movies/shows because they are popular genres with an already massive fan base established. So they keep doing it.

reply

They only sell it when we buy it.

When we don't buy it, then they have to go back to the drawing board.

When we provide immediate feedback, then they have no choice but to eventually comply with at least a half way decent story, actors, and directing.

reply

They only sell it when we buy it.

It didn't happen this time around. That's surprising but then again, it was destined to be cancelled one way or the other.

reply

Personally I really like the show so far, and I like that it is based on the movies.

reply

Loosely based on the movies.

reply
