Shot in "Wobble Cam"

Since its just HIM who landed on the planet... Why would the scenes from the planet be shot in WOBBLE CAM??? No one is down on the planet with him, holding the camera. -- Ok, its an attempt at making the action seem candid, or rough, since he's alone... but you are just left with a headache, and puzzled if the crew couldn't afford a Steady Cam... OR just pass it through "Stabilize" at YouTube. That would help unstable movies like this.
Interesting concept though.

I guess that's the same thing as "found footage"?
I HATE those kind of movies since they make me nauseous after a few minutes.
I looked the movie Melancholia a lot but had to watch it over the course of 2 days because, even though it wasn't extremely noticeable it used that technique as well so I got motion sickness again.

Filmmakers need to stop this crap. They're alienating part of their viewing audience with this technique.

Those of us that hate it can all thank Blair Witch's massive take at the box office for making it popular.

I quite like shaky cam, if its done well. Cloverfield was a good example of it done well. It must be a real drag getting sick from some movies. I've read a lot about people getting sick in computer games. Head bob and narrow field of view being the biggest puke inducers. I tried to make myself feel this once by running around with the lowest FOV I could right up close to the screen and I was fine. I wonder what it is that is different between us.

I think it will be tough avoiding that technique now though as its really entered mainstream Hollywood movies when they do chase scenes and such

But there's a difference between shakey cam, and just handheld cam.

In mockumentary shows, they tend to be handheld, and shaking/wobbling around a bit, but I wouldn't call that shakey cam.

Shakey cam is what they do in action movies, where they intentionally shake the camera, often while having it zoomed in way too much, and it completely ruins any movie.

I know Shaky-cam and the found footage gimmick go hand-in-hand. But the first time I remember seeing shaky-cam was the first Law&Order TV series. After that was a hit, they used it on every other TV show for a while. Then Blair Witch came out and merged it with the home movie found footage, and brought it to a new level of annoying.

The Blair Witch Project was as much of a saint as Dorothy Mantooth! That movie was outstanding. When NYPD Blue came out, people complained about its new style of camera work. In hindsight, it was revolutionary, just like Blair Witch Project.

That worked great!

excellent tip.

I loved the movie btw.

Thanks for the warning. I don't do shaky-cam crap.
