Have you seen it?

Cannes is dead its completely finished ruined, killed by *beep* directors and buisness, few years ago Dheepan would have been far from getting the Palme he got it only because Audiard is a favourite in the heart of the judges. Its not ok

When i think of the quality of his father in his work, sorry but it hurts me to see this movie won the Palme this is not ok

Come again?

I haven seen this, and I don't think it worth this award.
I just can't understand why they son't chose ''The Assassin'' '' Tale Of Tales'' ''Youth'' ''Son Of Saul'' ''Sicario''.
All better than this.

Well, having just seen this I can assure you that Carol, The Lobster, The Assassin, Tales of Tales, Youth and Son of Saul would all be have been far more deserving. My personal choice would have been Carol. (I loath Sicario and like Dheepan wonder HTF it even got into competition.)

Have or haven't?

It's funny how most people in this thread aren't even able to motivate their dislike or don't even make it clear if they've seen the film or not. It's obvious how anyone had decided to hate it since it won the Golden Palm, since it came as a bit of a surprise: as if the Cannes critical reactions were sacred and Dheepan not being the most acclaimed film of the edition necessarily meant it couldn't be a deserving winner. Loach's "I, Daniel Blake" will sure get the same treatment for supposingly beating Ade's "Toni Erdmann" (especially from people who haven't seen either).

Btw, I'm probably obsessed by "Carol" more than it is healthy, so I think that would've been my pick eventually. But I stand by my claim that Audiard is a very deserving winner, especially compared to people that have been trown into the mix here, such as Garrone and Sorrentino (and I say that as an Italian who had preciously admired their work).
