release date in the US theaters?

Does anyone know when Sammo Hung's the Beloved Bodyguard will be released in the USA?

reply

It's shît. Don't even bother watching it. I just watch it.

Let's face it. Sammo's golden years were the '70s and '80s when he was a masterful comedy-action auteur. What was the last decent thing he appeared in recently, the supporting role in 'IP Man 2' perhaps? The same could be said for his pals Jackie Chan and Yuen Biao. Though Jackie had some decent stuff coming out of Hong Kong in the '90s and the occasional one in the last decade like 'New Police Story' otherwise same camp.

reply

It's waiting in line behind the rest of his movies

reply

Ofcourse it's not shi t

Sammo is 64 years old now, did a nice job as director & actor
and achieved a very watchable action scene at the end.
Also if you have a little knowledge of the old HK film scene,
the cameos in the movie alone will pay off your watch time.

People like wilson5566 snitched the movie from the net
and have no knowledge of whatever.

I don't think an US film distributor will pick this one up,
but maybe an US film network in some time...

In case you missed a meeting, there are millions of people who like things that you don't like and to criticize them, call them names or belittle them for is the utmost in immaturity.

I loved it by the way.

I don't love her.. She kicked me in the face!!

One thing you need to know about Asian movies, they don't often get released in theaters in the USA or any other western country. This is common knowledge. I thought everyone knew this! But I will explain. Reason, 1) the actors involved, 2) not as popular as US movies 3) Marketing and 4) will not produce enough sales...depending on the film.

The only time there will be Asian movies in theaters in the USA is how popular the Asian actors are, by the popularity of it in it's own country and rest of Asia, how well Marketing is done in the USA and reviews. This is why it often takes 6 months-2 years for the Chinese movies to be dubbed into English, then released in either selected Cinemas or in every state

The other way is to go to Chinatown as some states might have a Chinatown theater which often shows Asian but in it's own language with or without English subs.

Example, Have a look at the Chinese movies by Jackie chan, Sammo Hung. Jet Li and Donnie yen, since these guys are the more popular Chinese actors. See when they were released in China and the USA (or not).

So for this movie, while it probably did gross a lot of money in theaters in China and Sammo Hung is popular, but not as much as Jackie Chan and reviews was only average, therefore doesn't get a theater release.

So to get a DVD/BR or VOD release "maybe" English dubbed, wait until August or Sep.

Or you can already buy as Asia always releases before USA distributors do, you can buy it on Blu Ray with English subs here : http://www.yesasia.com/us/the-bodyguard-2016-blu-ray-hong-kong-version/1050737728-0-0-0-en/info.html

Or if you don't want to spend money, I am sure you can find a place to download it.
