Why is Jackson keeping everything secret from his fiance?

Is it because he realized he might have feelings for Jesse?

Jackson keeping his fiancee out of the loop is stupid and it places her in danger because she has no idea there are dangerous people out there.

To say nothing of all this kinda illustrates how the timeline is really warped and would work better if they were closer to 25/30 (which is how it's written and acted) versus the actual 40+ they all are....cause I find it a bit weird that Jessie got with Gil, yet they haven't married (and are almost 40+), but she's still pining for her jr high school boyfriend at 40+.

And none of this has come out over the course of 28 years (seriously, NO ONE ever complained as an adult?), Boots's wife/girlfriend is preggers and alone and Fancee Pants Jackson is only just getting around to getting married, now?

All kinda weird

They are both lawyers, maybe he doesn't want her to get involved because it would a) jeopardize her safety and possibly her b) career.

The obvious answer is that he is so ashamed of what happened to him, he buried it deep inside and thinks because he's a successful lawyer that he's 'over' it. It's not just telling her that his friends are in trouble, it's admitting that he was physically tortured and sexually abused repeatedly as a kid... he feels dirty and thinks if she knows 'the truth' about him, she'll either pity him or leave him.

I think the show is actually doing a fairly realistic job of showing the long term effects of childhood abuse. For people who haven't experienced that, it may be a little hard to understand why the guys aren't being more forthcoming about what happened to them

Was just about to put in your answer engle_james. Jackson---like the others---is ashamed of the abuse that he went through. From what I've seen so far, he was the guy in the group that held everyone together, the leader/heart. When he got out of Quitman, he just wanted to forget and worked to become successful. In my own opinion, I think part of the reason he became a lawyer was so that he could keep what happened to him and his friends from happening to someone else. I was never abused in this way, but if I had been, I don't think I would be able to tell my significant other what had happened. And plus, Boots was killed in prison and the Warden's reach seems to be everywhere. If he could have Boots killed in prison, what's to say he couldn't find about Jackson's girl?

Truck or Squad. What side are you on?
