Forgot the dang finale was last night, and managed to catch the last 30 minutes of it---so that's it? After what happened in the last few minutes, that's gonna be it? I'm like, "What the fck? That's it? They're just gonna leave that plot line hanging like that? Damn!" Anyone who's seen the finale knows what I'm talking about. I have to say, I watched the show from the beginning, because the advertisements for it intrigued me, and got hooked on it---I love suspense/revenge dramas anyway, so this definitely fit the bill. I mainly started watching after seeing that Larenz Tate (a longtime fave actor of mine) was going to to be co-starring in it (and he was excellent, of course---I think he's underrated/underused as an actor, anyway) but his other two co-stars also really held things up---especially Michael Raymond-James as the troubled Gil (seriously, that character had way more than some major issues.)

That being said, I didn't think the series was gonna make it to another season anyway, mainly because I just assumed the whole story was going to be wrapped up in one entire season arc. Apparently I was wrong. The only problems I had with the show is that Gil was way too much of a loose cannon (he should have had some therapy, because he was still messed up from what happened to him in the juvenile prison, and he damn near wrecked Jackson and Shawn's plans to take down the former warden and his thug cohorts who had victimized them more than once. I also felt like Jackson could have kept his plans a hell of a lo more secret, and that Shawn and Jesse were the only sane thinking two of the group who didn't go off and do some half-cocked crazy s*** like Jackson and Gil did, more than once. Loved last week's episode where Shawn recognized and went the hell off on his former enemy turned counselor from the prison, and almost kicked his a**---that really made the show again for me.

But,yeah, even though NBC promoted the heck out of this show, it did seem like toward the end that they were using the show to fill up the slots that THE BLACKLIST and SHADES OF BLUE left empty after their finales. It was still good while it lasted,though---exciting, dramatic and suspenseful as heck--at least that much can be said about it.

My question is, why did Diana have Marina killed? Wouldn't it have made more sense to have her kidnapped as leverage to get Jackson to quit pursuing Carroll? Or did she just want to punish him?

reply

Somebody tweeted "Diana definitely has a hatred for pregnant women!"
Cracked me up! LOL

I hope there's a season 2, and she's not dead!

Diana ran the mob. She has that mentality whereas if you want to get to someone, hit them where it would hurt the most. Jackson warned Marina to stay away from Diana, but Marina had to open her mouth and tell her of Jackson's plan, and what they knew. I was so upset when he pulled her out of the trunk.

reply

Good point. I also think maybe she wanted to frame Jackson for Marina's murder, so he would go to prison and therefore be out of the way. I'm sure Diana thought that Jackson was the brains and without him, his gang wouldn't be much of a threat to her.

But of course, they're smarter and more resourceful than she thinks!

reply

I also was really upset when Jackson pulled Marina out of the trunk. The fact that she was pregnant made it that much more horrific. I've never been any big fan of Sharon Lawrence, but I must admit her acting was so good I REALLY despised her even before she had Marina murdered.

I noticed a post that asked if Marina is dead. I thought the same thing because it was, of course, wishful thinking that she was not, indeed, dead (and the unborn baby also). Why didn't anyone other than Jackson realize what a two-faced piece of *beep* Diana was? To add 'insult to injury', the fact that the show wasn't renewed makes the whole thing even more frustrating and stressful. Yes, I know it's only a tv show, but still.... What an unnecessarily cruel way to end it.

reply

LOL that's true, Casper!

reply

Yeah i'm upset too, i hate it when show's end on a cliffhanger like that! Same thing happened with Mysteries Of Laura:(
