Difficult to watch

Pervert Park is the rare modern doc that doesn’t have an agenda, or a mission statement. There’s nothing to fix here — the damage is already done. The appeal and scope of Pervert Park will no doubt be restricted because of this, but those willing to sit and listen to the (often traumatic) stories the film tells may come out feeling differently than when they went in. Perhaps not sympathy for some of the film’s subjects, but at least less unchecked abhorrence. Sometimes that’s the best anyone can ask for: http://www.cutprintfilm.com/reviews/pervert-park/

uh no, while it isn't biased, (it doesnt excuse the people of their actions) it is educating people on sex offender laws. i studied took a course called Critical Issues in Law Enforcement a few years back and we looked at this specifically. back in the 90's it was a huge deal how people could just abduct kids and people were outraged, and rightfully so. the creation of these laws though has also ruined a lot of people's lives. most notably, teenagers having sex with their underage partners with consent. i remember a specific case where the two gave consent and later got married, turns out it didn't matter and i think the older partner had to register for a significant period of time if not their whole life. thats how f'd up the system is.

there was this other case recently of a 19 y/o having thought he met a 17 y/o (the age of consent in his area) thru a dating / hookup app. she gave consent but turns out she was only 14. i know what ur thinking but A. some 14 y/o's look older... maybe? been a while since i was that age but girls develop faster than guys usually and B. how often do u say let me see ur id / license before we hookup. im sure he was in the moment and well... now he has to register on the list for his whole life. what a life that is going to be. people are going to view him as a rapist, best part is the actual person responsible for this (lying on the app to join, you need to be a certain age, and to the boy himself) escapes responsibility. yes he should have known a little better but she pretty much ruined his life.

he shouldn't go unpunished because this case doesnt cover all and im sure theres more to it, but he also doesn't deserve a life of persecution, most ppl will use the app / website. not all of them list the person's crimes, some link to beenverified where u have to pay (others do) but if people dont know they assume the worst and thats the problem. the reformatting of these laws.

I totally agree with you on this. To me a person does not belong on a sex offender list for a lifetime if they hook up with a willing partner that lies about her age. When I was fourteen I could have easily passed for eighteen. I lied about my age to guys. !8 year olds. I never had sex with them but it happens quite a bit. Certainly don't believe these young girls aim is to have these guys registered and lumped in with truly horrific sex abusers.
