What actually happened in this movie?

I know it wasn't good but this will contain lots of spoilers, not that it really matters. What actually happened?

The year is 2154 and 9 evil corporations have taken over the world and there are 2 billion slaves. They have this Hunger Games type of game where 10 people volunteer to go into the maze, have their memories wiped, and slaves bet on them, either they win and you are freed from slavery or they die and you die as well for having bet on them. Weird way to do population control but we will move on. These 10 people wake up in the maze within an apparent one month timeframe, though there doesn't seem to be food but the chick with the bat was hunting an eating something. Moving on, Alec Baldwin can move walls within the maze to split the group up. There is a random ghost, I think named Andron who floats around. Some sort of red cyborg robots keep the players on the "grid" so it will be televised.

The one woman who remembers she works for the evil corporations is trying to smuggle some data out through her neurochip in the back of her neck. People die, one randomly turns into the ghost lady and starts killing. Two survive and maybe its a matrix like reunion, just remember harder and you can bring some of your memories back. Also one character is from the 1500s, another from 2016, and a couple from 2154, not clear how that happened.

We don't even know how they got out of the maze other than the woman who works for the evil corporations does something and an exit opens.

Does anyone actually understand what was supposed to be happening, no matter how stupid or lame it was? Thanks.
