Brilliant

The quality of the production and the acting was brilliant, particularly from the young boy. At its heart is a stunning portrayal of youthful first love and unrequited as it often is. This is all tied up in a complex web of class divides starting with Leo and the family her stays with, to Marion and the tenant farmer, and finally the family with Viscount Trimingham.

The only thing for me that let it down, was the ending was just too quick. The old mans trip back needed to be longer rather than just having Vanessa Redgrave blurt out everything that happened in the intervening years

The less Jim Broadbent the better!

I heartily second that!

A bit unfair on Jim Broadbent but here it worked.

Its that man again!!

Hard to buy that the beautiful boy, Leo will look anything like Jim Broadbent when he grows old. Sorry Jim but that nose especially just spoils the vision!

Other than the above, this is a brilliant production. I love the cinematography, every scene is beautifully shot, the storyline's compelling but most of all is Jack Hollington in the lead role as Leo. A truly amazing actor. Really loved his performance.
