Uh..did no one tell her that there's a Le Cordon Bleu in San Francisco? They teach the same techniques and she would have been able to go home and be with her hot boyfriend every night. Plus, she clearly wasn't fluent in French, so the SF location would have been a better fit for her.

It was not just Le Cordon Bleu she wanted to go to, she wanted to study in Paris, just like her idol Julia Child. She wanted to walk the same halls, be in that culture, etc.
