At the beginning there is a scene with her first husband when she was 16, and how she refused to have relations with him. Is there a reason for this or was she just young and shy?

Really? I thought that it was her boyfriend from high school. Yeah that could explain it. I just thought why she was being so shy.

Though it isn't mentioned in the film, some sources state that she was molested as a young child by a border who was staying in the house where she lived with Gladys.
