Oh brother. No one is going to look exactly like her in every single aspect. Overall, she looks a lot like her.

It must be a big deal to you, because you've posted your opinion about 100 times on this topic. Also your user name pretty much says it all, You're a Marilyn Fanatic. No one is going to look like Marilyn Monroe, except for Marilyn Monroe, so just drop it already.

you've got to be kidding with this response. Are you a inspiring up and coming comedian and you are practicing jokes? without a doubt your post reveals the fact that you cant be over the age of 20. If you are serious with your response, you are childish, insecure & live in a distorted reality. For one, if you were confident and cool, just sharing your view on good ol Marilyn, you would leave your comment and if anyone disagreed with you, you wouldnt feel the need to tell them they are WRONG, be assured you are right or attack THEM PERSONALLY especially about their looks and then have the AUDACITY to rant and rave about how everyone else is lame for not being open to difference of opinions. that right there, shows contridictions & hypocrisy.

Attacking another woman calling them ugly??! LMFAO! thats childish insecurity 101. So attacking another womans looks is supposed to do what? Make you feel big? Make them feel like crap? How good of a human being do you feel inside that because you cant control your own emotions to someone else embarrassing you or calling you out on your behavior that your blood boils inside so much that you cant just take a breath and think "wow I did act a fool, I should just let it go and move on its not life or death" but instead you start to STEAM and boil like a pot of water on a stove and you couldnt IMPULSIVELY help yourself but to fire back - NOT WITH SMARTS OR LOGIC but the quickest, easiest ( & lamest) jabs anyone can use "you're ugly!" and then claiming you are prettier and you have a BF and he is taking you to europe tomorrow. Um who cares? that tells me you base you WHOLE WORTH ON HAVING A BOY AND BEING LOVED BY HIM and being showered by gifts and love. You probably cant even be alone because you dont feel human without a man. Otherwise why DECLARE THE "IM PRETTY...I HAVE A BF AND HE GIFTS ME!" as to try to persuade US- TOTAL STRANGERS- of YOUR worth.

No one cares darling. I'm responding to help you. Help you pop that bubble your floating in to come back to earth and view things clearly. Some people go their whole life blind and insecure- and I dont want you to go thru that sweetie.

another hint you are narcissistically driven is the fact that Marilyn Monroe is your icon. Its quite endearing to have a icon or personal hero but DIEHARD Marilyn lovers and DEFENDERS - who get overly defensive over any kind of criticism or disproval of others- are usually unstable Mabels. They feed off her zest for life and her nascissictly way she lives "she just wants to be star, she doesnt give a F attitude, is sultry sexy , loves men and does drugs and drinks to excess and died from a broken heart" is appealing to those types. Marilyn also couldnt LIVE WITHOUT A MAN- LITERALLY NOT FIGURATIVELY ....it killed her! She couldnt be alone. Famous examples of Marilyn Monroe diehards: Lindsay Lohan, Megan Fox, Madonna, Rihanna, Mariah Carey, Anna Nicole Smith,Nicki Minaj - NARCISSIT CITY! Not saying fans are....but most who live, eat, sleep, breath Marilyn probably are.

How can anyone successfully love someone else when they dont love themselves? If you cant feel WHOLE by yourself, you'll spend the rest of your life searching for that void instead of confidently living life - fulfilling it YOUR WAY and have the outlook that you are HAPPY WITH YOURSELF, and you WANT A MAN TO SHARE YOUR HAPPY LIFE WITH.... not NEED a man to be happy...PERIOD. Sorry I wouldnt have normally responded, but I cannot stand when women tear down others and use looks to do so. That is so corny, dorky, cheesy, lame, immature. You are better than that. and the woman she attacked you are beautiful.

Thank u! These freaks are sick! If the real MM came from the grave and played her they'd still complain.
The actress playing her is BRILLIANT!! She's doing a smashing job and she looks just like her to me.

Well, yeah -- pretty sure everyone would complain. That'd be both horrifying and extremely gross to behold.

Certainly it would give new meaning to the term "dead ringer".

Other than that you're right, obviously.

IMDb-boards would be less confusing if people would mark their signatures clearly.

I think she is the closest one to Marilyn I have ever seen
she captured her essence as far as I am concerned
I actually didn't see it but caught bits of it
I am the kind of person who has to see the whole thing from beginning to end and hopefully it will be on again

Marilyn had very soft eyes that were luminous and impossible to duplicate

no need for childish insults
I said she captured the "essence" of Marilyn and feel this is the best portrayal yet but no one can come close it is impossible

reply

Totally agree. Looks nothing like her.

reply

I don't think she looks very much like her, but she does a good job with her voice and mannerisms.

There are many actresses that could have been a better physical fit. Kelli is really talented, she did the best she could but I think she was greatly miscast in the role.

reply

when she has dark hair in the movie theater early in the movie she looks very much like her

reply

I think that's when she looks least like her. In my opinion she only looks close to her when she's older with blonde hair.

reply

Well she's definitely better than Michelle Williams.

Amy Adams: too plain to be Lois Lane

Agreed about her voice and mannerisms. I think she did kinda look like her before Marilyn went blonde.

She is very pretty but she doesn't look much like her. She sounds and acts like her though. The actress was well cast in that aspect. She would have made a good Brittany Murphy in that horrid movie Lifetime aired about her (I know they didn't produce it).

I'm watching it now and she does look very much likeMarilyn but more than anything she moves and talks like her. Much better than Michelle.

I dvr'd the movie and plan to watch it tonight so perhaps I should have waited to weigh in on this but I think it's a mistake for any actress to try and take on the role of portraying someone so well known, especially MM. If I've had a change in opinion, I will revise.

reply

I think she looks more like Marilyn than any other actress that tried to play her. I think she did a great job with voice and mannerisms. How come only 1 vote is showing for this movie, btw?

reply

I so agree. She even does that sexy mouth thing that Marilyn did when she spoke. It's sort of pouty. I have watched every Marilyn Monroe film and I always noticed it and found it alluring. Physically, Megan Hilty might have been a better fit but with creative costuming Kelly Garner looks physically right if a bit thin. Marilyn Monroe was a size 16, fat by today's celebrity standards, but I love MM just the same. Today's female celebrities are too thin, in my humble opinion. I also agree, that while Michelle Williams was quite good, Kelly Garner is a little better.

That's a myth about Marilyn being a size 16:

http://www.snopes.com/movies/actors/mmdress.asp

Marilyn's measurements were generally 36-23-37 or 36-24-37. As you can see, she had a tiny waist, so her legendary hourglass figure were an illusion perpetrated by a small waist in relation to her bigger hips and bosom. Those measurements would probably have been a voluptuous size 12 fifty years ago before the current chronic obesity of America caused the phenomena known as vanity sizing, i.e. changing the tags of larger clothes to smaller sizes to make larger women think they are wearing a smaller size. Though Marilyn may have been "bigger" at times, she was never anywhere near a modern size 12 or 16. This notion has become popular with overweight women in particular who justify their size 12s, 14s and 16s as making them the same size as "the sexy and desired Marilyn Monroe." However, one only has to look at old newspaper photos to question the "plus-size Marilyn myth."

That said, she did gain weight during her tumultuous marriage to Arthur Miller due mainly to pregnancies and booze. Just look at the films made during that time: Some Like it Hot, Let's Make Love, The Misfits. She looks particularly ample in Hot, which is one of the times she was pregnant. But after her divorce from Miller in 1961, she slimmed back down, and you can see her old ravishing self during her "Happy Birthday, Mr. President" performance at Madison Square Garden (where she wore that skin-tight gown) and the screen tests for Something's Got to Give (where she filmed a nude scene).
