How do they charge their video cameras?

So they are in the wild in an island far away from anything, recording it themselves on cameras.

How do they power and charge them with no electricity??

Battery power isn't that great and the didn't bring a truckload of spare batteries with them.

Been wondering this too. Solar power?

I'm thinking a crew comes in every day and checks out the people and the equipment while picking up tapes and leaving fresh tapes and batteries. There's no way the insurance company for the network allows these people to be left alone for extended periods of time without checking in.

What if one of the guys snaps in the middle of the night and murders everyone in their sleep? They are getting checked up on more often than we are seeing on screen which only seems to be when someone needs medical attention. I think they get checked on at least once a day if not more than that if for nothing more than mental health. Notice that so far we don't see a lot of night scenes or early morning scenes. If I had to guess, I would day they get checked up on during these times since they are at vulnerable at these times and they don't make for great filming anyway so it's ideal for them.

I bet that 1 or 2 of the guys there are apart of the show...probably the cameramen....an acts as their mole...should they feel that someone is becoming dangerous, etc. They are also participants, which isn't that much of a stretch for them, since they usually do this as their real jobs anyway (as they've mentioned in their video bio)...always being in the bush (except with gear).

reply

Have you even watched it? 4 of the "participants" are production crew camera men, and numerous shots appear to show additional staff must be there filming from the air or underwater.

reply

Yes there are production people part of the show. The don't hide it.

As for the OP I'm 100% sure a boat comes by daily with fresh batteries, replacement cameras and more memory cards(tapes).

There was another show like this where there was only one guy left naked on the beach. There was a predetermined area that he dropped off his camera stuff and picked up new stuff but he never made contact with the crew.

reply

Sounds like the most plausible idea.

And good point re storage of footage. I can't see the network risking it for that long a period and losing a camera.
