Qestion...about why the big dude gave them his gun

Why did the big dude hand over the revovler to them in the beginning when they were locked in the green room?

To me it seemed as though he was under no huge threat and really had no reason to fear them all that much.

Also, was there any rationale behind the girl box cutting his belly up as he was being held down. That seemed unreasonably psychotic at this point in the tale.

Thanx

I think one of the managers outside the door told that big guy to hand over the gun as part of the negotiation, and the big guy did so, but with much reservation. I think there was more to the deal and I remembering it making sense when it happened (for both sides). I just can't remember the specifics now - but I do remember a very tense scene.

As for Amber, I don't think there as any good rationale. She probably felt like she had to do *something* to contribute, and that big guy really was scary and seemed to come back to life to launch another attack. Amber likely wanted to remove all doubt and end his life immediately. It was definitely a gross thing to look at. It's when body makeup effects are a little too good.

Thanx, why he gave his gun went over my head completely. I can of course see a situation as a sort of sign of goodwill in the "negotiations"

The owner of the club, Darcy, wanted badly not to have to kill them inside the club. He needed them to think they have a chance of getting away alive. What better than to give them a gun, which he knew they would never use cause they weren't the killing type of people (at least they weren't in the beginning of the situation). It was a risky move, but Darcy hoped they will make a conclusion that he doesn't have an intention to kill people he just gave a loaded gun as a sign of good will. It's kind of a reverse psychology. All Darcy wanted was to trick them to go out of the club.

Makes sense when you put it like this. But given the fact they saw a murdered girl in the green room with them laying there already and experienced a high degree of hostility from pretty much everyone, it seem to me like a high game for no much reason?

At the time the girl was already dead and murdered in there. At the time he Captain Picard had them at gun point from a huge intimidating dude.... well, I cannot argue with how it went down naturally :-) but was it me telling this story, I would perhaps exchange the big dude with a smaller and less scary dude (in other words, give the kids a better dealt hand)... or make it seem more like an even trade, like; you get the gun, I just want my dude unharmed... and then the kids go back on their "word" and then continue the story as it was told... or perhaps this was the trade? I cannot remember.

I didn't say that it made sense to give them a gun (I wouldn't have done it), but I was trying to explain a reasoning Darcy had when he gave them a gun. It's possible that Darcy underestimated them. The girl who was in a room with them immediately said "it's a mind game". She didn't believe it for a second, but Darcy was probably betting on members of the band being naive and gullible.

No no I know you did not. I am just conversing:)

your explanations above makes sense to me, I did though not quite get the same sentiment when I watched it. Thank you for making it clearer to me.

And it seems that there was plan B present in Darcy's actions.

If the band members proved to be less gullible than he thought and refused to exit the room, Darcy had a plan B. He tells them something like: "From my perspective, I came to my club and discovered that there is an out of town band with unregistered gun, and possibly a hostage situation." That was a plan in case they refuse to exit the club, and he had to off them inside the club. Clever thinking.

Interesting. We know he speculates in Police and how the system works, when he makes his minions knife each other to cover up for that call. This makes perfect sense. In fact having them there inside with a gun and a dead girl is not necessarily a bad situation in the case the Police would return...

Yep. Darcy sure knows how the system works. What seems like a suspicious decision (to give them a gun), turns out to be a cunning plan. Well, it backfired in the end, but still.

I have to add that in case of plan B, they'd have to remove all the stuff from the basement before calling the police, so it would mean much more work for Darcy's crew.
