Not actually a bad movie...

I'm genuinely impressed. The movie was actually decent! The acting wasn't bad, it was funny, the effects weren't too terrible...even the script/dialogue was alright. For a B movie with influences from Sharknado, I'd give it a 9/10.

(As a B movie a 9/10...compared to other movies, still a 5/10 or so...).

I wish I enjoyed it more. I thought Steve and the premise was a sure hit for me but it was kind of boring. I enjoyed Sharknado 3 way more.

reply

See, I thought Sharknado 3 was boring. I was not impressed with it at all honestly. I feel like my opinions are the exact opposite of every else but oh well...

reply

I actually enjoyed both movies! But I liked Lavalantula a little better...It was lots of fun seeing Steve Guttenberg as an action hero, and Nia Peeples is always good in SyFy movies as an action Mom!

reply

I thought it was good. Not as much fun as Sharknado 3 but I'm sure the sequel will be crazier. I'm stunned it only has 8 votes the night after. Did anyone even watch it?

reply

Plenty of people watched it. It was trending on Twitter for awhile.

reply

Agreed.

Sharknado 3 was pretty good (Sharknado 2 was a perfect 10 for B movies), but Lavalanchula was more entertaining.

The only think that irks me with both movies is the constant "let's treat the lead actors like a star" treatment. We didn't need to hear the guy was a former action hero 489690 times. Same with Sheppard in Sharknado.

Aside from that little quibble, both movies were solid. Fun leave-your-brain-at-the-door entertainment.

reply

This was horrible.

Really enjoyed Lavalantula! On par with other great Syfy flicks like Infestation, Big-Ass Spider, and the Sharknado series.

Zombies, man. They creep me out.

reply

Don't forget Bigfoot! Bonaduce and Williams really played their roles to the hilt in that one. (The Fargo-esque cop was the icing on the cake.)

I loved this movie because I love Steve Guttenberg! This could have been called Police Academy: Lavalantula, lol! I loved seeing the three Police Academy actors fighting in the end!!

It was funny when he took the bus and the tourists loved that the actor was driving and fighting! Loved seeing Patrick Renna who played the pizza vampire delivery boy on The X-Files in it with Colton!

reply

Chandlah! I agree with you! I thought Lavalantula was a lot of fun! And I love Steve Guttenberg. As far as Sharknado 3 is concerned, once it left DC, HUGE snoozefest.

Watching it right now on SyFy. It's surprising me how much fun it is. Seeing Guttenberg as an action star is hilarious. But the movie sure is a perfect B movie so far. Lot of fun...

reply

Agreed. It is a nice pop corn film.

ohhh man, I keep asking myself why do I continue to watch this cheesy movie. It made me cringe sooo much lol but still, just one of those things where I had to find out how it ends I guess :-P

"Perhaps just one more, Master Harry, for luck?"
