The ending
Superior thriller but rather bizarre ending. Presumably faked his own death because he knew his dna would reveal him as the murderer. But end in the bookshop seems to confound this. Bit of a loose end?

Seems the police aren't very thorough in France. Even the charred body would be able to be identified by the teeth, not to mention the dna left all over Stanislas' body. Yet we have Mathieu's wife giving a reading of her 'late' husband's new novel. So apparently Mathieu's deception is still alive.
