a few questions maybe someone can answer

******possible spoilers******

First one being, what happened to the younger twin sister?
Second, Corrine said that John Amos had been with the family a very long time. Is he supposed to be the same butler from FITA?
lastly, keeping in mind that I was multi tasking at the very end of the new version of FITA, but I did watch the origional later that night (it's on Netflix if anybody is interested) the mother (Corrine) got tangled in her wedding gown when she fell from the balcony and was hanged, yet she is in this one. Was that because she didn't die in the remake of FITA and this seems to follow that continuity rather than the book? I has been probably 25nor so years since I read hem and the movies arent following the book as much as it could.
Anyhow, TIA!

I haven't seen it myself, but I apparently there's a movie in between FITA and ITBT that wasn't re-aired over the weekend. It's called Petals on the Wind. I read some spoilers for it and Carrie commits suicide ten or so years after the events of FITA.

I'm not sure, I wondered this too. I couldn't remember his name being mentioned in the first movie.

From what I've read online (I've never read the actual book series but I did see the 1987 movie), the 80s movie didn't follow the book canon very closely and Corrine's death was something that happened only in that movie, not in the book it was based off of. The 2014 version of FITA apparently follows the FITA book a lot closer.

Thanks Radrian_Grason,
Apparently I missed the remakke of PTOW. I wish they would replay it since they are playing the others now. Next week is SOY.
Based on other responsess, John Amos is supposed to be the same butler, just played by a different actor. The guy who played him in ITBT was creepy as could be!
The new vs. old I preferred the new ones better. Hopefully I will be able to catch the PTOW movie at some
point. I will also re-read the books at some point.
Thanks for your response!

Per the books: Carrie poisoned herself with arsenic (like Corey died) in POTW, Corinne did not die in FITA, John Amos is the family butler. And, for what it's worth, the original FITA movie is worthless if you are trying to stay on the same track as the books.

Thank you! I totally forgot she killed herself..
I guess I should re-read the books!

Carrie the younger sister killed herself in Petals on the Wind. It was very sad.

Yes, John Amos in If There Be Thorns is the same John Amos from FITA.

In the original 1987 version of FITA Corrine dies from being hanged, but in the book and the remake (which is following the book more) she did not die and is in the next 2 books/movies PotW and ITBT.

Thank you! You have been very helpful!!

1. I am guessing you have not watched the second movie 'Petals on the wind'? I suggest you do so, it is set 10 years after the children escaped from Foxworth Hall. Carrie killed herself in POTW, she died the same way that her twin brother Corey did.

2. Yes this John Amos is suppose to be the same character as the butler from the first movie, but it seems the character is played by a different actor in ITBT, since the actor seemed to look very different to the actor who played the character in FITA.

3. The 2014 FITA movie by Lifetime is actually much more faithful to the book and follows the book very closely. The old version that came out in 1987 changed too many things, and Corrine was not suppose to die in FITA, Corrine was still alive in the books until the end of ITBT. So the old 1987 movie was very different to the book, and frankly, it's worthless as a reference because they deviated too much away from the books. The Lifetime version stays very true to the book for the majority.

Thanks for the response ScrysttaLz,
Yeah, I completely missed PTOW. It would have been nice if they would have replayed it while they are running these. I believe SOY plays next week. I wonder why they wouldn't insert PTOW in somewhere.
I am going to try to get my hands on the books so I can re-reaad them.

I agree that the 2014 version was better than the origional.
Everybody here has answered all my questions. Thanks!

They reran Flowers in the Attic and Petals on the Wind with week before If There Be Thorns premiered. I guess they thought viewers would rather watch it as a serial instead of devoting six hours of solid viewing to see the whole series at once.
