What is this show about?!

Description says this:

“Lucifer Morningstar has decided he's had enough of being the dutiful servant in Hell and decides to spend some time on Earth to better understand humanity. He settles in Los Angeles - the City of Angels.“

I watched the first two episodes, and it seemed interesting at first but then I realized that it might be a show about Lucifer becoming a detective, solving crime and murder misteries.
So I stopped watching. I don’t find that particularly appealing. Was I wrong in my assumption? Was only first two episodes like that?

The description had me interested, but then I saw where it was going and lost my interest. They should have stated in the description Lucifer helps cop solve murders.

While the description of "Lucifer helping the detective solve murders" is correct, that is basically a background for the character development of the show. It is not a "Law and Order" procedural where each episode is a single episode story and you do not learn that much about the main characters.

The show creates a good "universe" using Lucifer's development from "playboy" to a person that cares about humanity. There is a mystery surrounding Chloe (the Detective) as something can only happen when she is in proximity to Lucifer. They play very much with the lore as well.

It is not a serialized story where each episodes links directly to the next but it is also not episodic where once the bad guy is caught everything goes back to normal. There are story arcs and character arcs.

I know I am not giving the best description but as no one has replied in 4 months I thought I could give you something at least :)

You did a great job of describing it

Thanks !

Thank you for your description. Now I have the better picture of what it is about. I might give it another go someday.

Please do, or don't.

There is enough cancer from people expecting this show to be something it's not. If the first few eps didn't bring you in, not even S4 will entice you to say good things about it.

For what it's worth, I also can't stand procedurals, but while Lucifer certainly has such elements, it still kept me coming back for the character and story arcs. I was also quite impressed the bits of actual world-building going on here and there.

This show is half crime procedural, which forms the structure for the episodes, and half soap opera. There's a lot of humor in it though. And very slick production. And the murder cases are usually pretty quirky and off-beat so it's a lot of fun. There are also ongoing storylines, but you're basically just getting that in five minute installments each episode. But first and foremost, this is kind of standard boy/girl detective teamup show so if you're not into that you're not gonna be a fan.

Thank you for the description. I might give it another go sometime, for now there are too many shows I watch at the moment.

Sorry, liked it originally when he was truly evil, gave new episodes another look its too LA, he's too much like a cheap gigolo from an escort service n just about every scene 'Chloe' looks like a fish...her 'concerned look' just way over used, same expression every time. It started to feel a little like hell, shallow LA style.
