This was an origins episode, it could have been the pilot. Lucifer comes to LA, Amenadiel comes to take him back. They don't know officer Chloe, but are in several scenes together. Good episode.

I don't think that this would have worked well as a pilot. I really liked the episode, but I think it works as well as it does because we already know the characters. Although this season has been all over the place, I'm still really enjoying it.
A great backstory episode. There were so many clever details that I didn't pick some of them up until the second viewing.

Lucifer reacting to Chloe's presence, even when he isn't looking at her, or seeing her only from the back.
Lucifer watching Chloe's porn movie, unbuttoning his pants, then putting a pillow in his lap when Amanadiel walks in.
I especially liked the stage business when Amanadiel asks for Lucifer's help while he's having a drink and munching on something -- very natural.
