I have been thinking if they would be given an extended season. Still not confirmed, but if they keep it up we're good. I can't imagine losing this show. it was bad enough with Forever, but this one would kill me.

reply

The funny thing is, I totally understand what you mean when you say it would kill you.

I wish.

iabanon, i'm still not over FOREVER being cancelled. :(

reply

Now that's the kind of post I love seeing on here. WONDERFUL NEWS! I wonder how many epis we'll get?
Thanks for posting!

reply

So are 13 guaranteed currently? Same as last season?

reply

Yes, but Joe said last week that they need to know in the next two to three weeks if they're going to have more episodes because they were currently working on episode 9. And they've got to have time to write the ending of the season accordingly, whether it's for a mid-season finale or the season finale. Those comments indicated to me that we should be hearing something soon.

I called it that it would get renewed so I'm calling it that more epis will come our way. Now I will cross fingers and toes😶

reply

And eyes.

but then we'd have a hard time watching lucifer😱

reply

lol...true. I guess I'll just have to come up with some unnatural yoga pose then, because I REALLY WANT more episodes!

Snort ... maybe FOX needs to know they are causing serious optical issues with fans who are crossing fingers toes and eyes wishing for more Lucifer. I mean we could cause injury and car accidents and who knows what other mishaps, so for the good of the world they need to cave and immediately promise us a full season.😎

reply

I just saw a tv by the numbers chart and they've got Lucifer ranked under Gotham for renewal, even though they've got identical rankings! They're saying renewal could go either way for Lucifer and we probably won't know until May!

I didn't even want to post the link because it's just such a bummer. But I don't know if I believe it, how do they have Gotham as a sure thing and Lucifer as a maybe, when both shows have the same numbers according to their chart? Not to mention, Lucifer's numbers were better than Gotham's, according to everybody, including the showrunner.

I just hate this on the fence stuff. I can't imagine what it must feel like for the writers and producers and cast.

Ignore that and keep and eye on the ratings. The most important is to watch live or on DVR within 3 days. Lucifer will get renewed unless it drops significantly.Have a look

I don't think Fox owns Lucifer. If so, it has to create more revenue (advertisement at higher price) for Fox to make money. That will definitely be a deciding factor. Shows that a network owns, under 5 years old (contracts still in place so no increase in costs due to actors renegotiations) will get renewed over other shows that have similar ratings.

Welcome to the wailing wall of fans of Forever and Person of Interest and many others......

reply

But Fox doesn't own Gotham either.

It worries me because TV By The Numbers has a really good track record.

reply

Oops, sorry. Never watched Gotham, so I never paid any attention to it.

Someone mentioned to me that the Cancellatuon Bear is no longer associated with tvbythenumbers, and the *bear* was the one that had the good predictive algorithm.

Sorry, rumor and innuendo...that's all I got, and it's not too helpful.

reply

You're on the right track. They got rid of the smiley/frowny faces and brought back the cancellation bear. For some reason, that didn't make a lot of sense, tbh. I think I'm just not going to pay attention. I believed, long before they gave Lucifer the thumbs up, that Fox was going to renew based on so many factors. No reason stressing myself out. :)

The better the ratings, the more they can charge advertisers. Have a look at the this chart,it will of course change to 2016/2017,as we move into 2017. Lucifer is not going to get cancelled. I'm not saying, you think it will.

I don't think it will either, I'm just hoping for more episodes THIS season.

If we don't get 22 this season we should the next.

No argument from me on that! I want 22 now, and forever...lol. Forever 22, my new motto.

reply

I'm with you! I want 22 as well - actually 52 one for every week of the year but then they'd all burn out so putting aside my selfish 'desire' I will root for 22 as well.

reply

Me too. I didn't really finish my thought when I posted. What I want is word from Fox that we're going to get somewhere around 22 epis this season. Joe indicated they need to know that soon for story purposes. So seeing this stupid TBTN report gave my heart a little jump.

Hopefully, Fox knows they've got a winner on their hands. How could they not? Their numbers increased, even airing against a lot of stiff competition! The NFL for one thing,The Voice, shows that have huge audiences. So to hold your own against them should be a big deal.

Way way too early for that. We've only had one epi so far and it had a great viewer response. I can't see it being cancelled, remember Joe's tweet.
