You know what this is like?

The Zombie Apocalypse.

Seriously. I mean, it's so great the show is back, but the Trolls!!! They just. keep. coming!

Hell, now we've gotta start carrying weapons like shovels. To either, a. shovel their sh*t, or b. decapitate them.

Fun with TV shouldn't be this much work!

It's bizarre. I mean they just come rampaging over here the very day it airs and none of them seem to want to watch the show. Trust me though this is a mere fraction of BS I have put up with on other boards.
Some peopel aren't happy unless they are unloading their unhappiness on to others. 'Spread the misery' is their motto. I can't imagine living like that. Life's too short to be a miserable c$%&.

reply

I know, most boards are like that. This one has been the exception for so long. It's happened here before, too, but they'll get tired and go away when they realize they're not going to accomplish a god damn thing here. Bullies are weaklings.

So what'd you think, iabanon? Did you see it yet?

Despite the trolls, I'm ecstatic. Christmas morning and my birthday all wrapped up in one. :)

I liked it. I enjoyed it very much and it was such a nice relief from the hard days work I had. I come home, put on some soup, put a bread roll in the oven to toast, sorted out the viewing and just relaxed. Ahhhh. Lucifer is back. But damn it we have to wait another two weeks. Oh the humanity.

reply

lol, yes, it's like we're being punished or something just for loving the devil.

wait...

;)

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

I must admit I'm enjoying this season more than the previous one (although it's been only 1 episode), and I highly counted on weekly meetings with upbeat Luci to get me through autumn cold and rains 😞

Stop it,I fell out of my chair I was laughing so hard. Seriously though I know what you mean and most of them don't make any sense. Like the Buffy post argh.

reply

No sense. Nonsense. Nonsensical. Nonsensery. (I don't care if that last one's not real, it should be)

Class, these are just a few synonyms for trolls. Here are some more according to the Google:

rubbish, gibberish, claptrap, balderdash, blarney; hogwash, baloney, rot, moonshine, garbage, jive, tripe, drivel, bilge, bull, guff, bunk, bosh, BS, eyewash, piffle, poppycock, phooey, hooey, malarkey, hokum, twaddle, gobbledygook, codswallop, flapdoodle, hot air; bunkum, tommyrot; bullsh*t, crap, crapola, "that's a lot of damn nonsense"

And now I'm beginning to totally lose it. lol.

Phew, is it safe to come out? Do the really bad ones only come out at night? Seems a lot quieter around here this morning.

Keep those shovels at the ready, though. 

Oh, and heavy dictionaries are good, too. You can either hit them over the head with 'em, or correct their spelling and grammar. 😈

I just feel sorry for them honestly. Anyone who takes pleasure in trying to hurt or attack other and try to bring them down them is obviously a very disturbed individual. I really pity them and the unhappiness and sadness in their own lives that they feel the need to let their anger out and abuse others to make themselves feel better.

Hopefully they get the help they need.

reply

I can't pity them. They anger me that they spread so much negativity for no reason other than their amusement. It's not fair. There's enough negativity in the world as it is. These people have NEVER added anything positive to the world in their whole lives. They have NEVER said a kind word to anyone or thought to raise people up instead of tearing them down. And it's 90 percent of the time males who do this. The obnoxious cruelty. The NEED to hurt others. The aggressiveness. I've said this before and i'll say it again. Testosterone should be an illegal substance. it's just such a horrible hormone that brings out the worse in the male population.

reply

I look at them as I look at abused children. We feel tremendously for them when they're young, but then when they grow up and become abusers, which a good number do, we hate them as monsters. I try to remember the child who was so hurt that they completely lost their own humanity, their empathy for anyone else. And considering the amount of child abuse and bullying in the world, I wouldn't be surprised if many internet trolls were abused or bullied terribly, and they're just trying to get rid of their pain by inflicting it on others. Rather than cut themselves they try to cut others. And for that, I do feel tremendous compassion because they don't know a better way. I just wish they could wake up and see that continuing the cycle of abuse helps no one. Relieves nothing. They need to learn to love themselves. But as long as they spread hate, that will never happen. For now, they're engaging in emotional terrorism out of misdirected anger. Some have probably lost the capacity to find any other way, to even feel empathy, and that's tragic.

In most places, I ignore these unhappy trouble-makers. But I've seen how their negativity spreads like wildfire and can take over a board in no time. So now I fight back until they go elsewhere. I don't enjoy it at all. But we can't just roll over and take their abuse, either. And like their own abusers did when they were too little to stand up for themselves, they're looking for weak prey. Which is incredibly sad.

You don't build yourself up by tearing someone else down.

Something Trolls simply do not understand.

reply

The conditioning starts so young, I don't think some of these kids have a chance. I remember my daughter as a toddler being the happiest being on the planet. She bounced everywhere. And then she went to preschool. I mean she's a super outgoing, friends with everyone kind of person. But she saw some kids she just didn't understand. Kids who were mean to other kids for no reason she could figure out. I hate remembering the day she came home from school crying, asking, "Mommy, why are some kids mean?".

Exaggerate the essential, leave the obvious vague. —Vincent Van Gogh

reply

Your zombie metaphor is an apt one. They wreak mindless destruction while trying to satisfy an insatiable hunger.

reply

While that is true, my pity is not that large for them because I've had a difficult life myself probly just as bad as these people if not worse but I don't lash out at people I know are innocent so I can't understand why someone would be so cruel to people who don't deserve it.
And the thing that they should understand is by lashing out at innocent people they may be lashing out at people who have been abused themselves. That's just not right.

Why not act this way towards ignorant people instead or even people that seem ignorant?

I am a very cynical person so I might be discounting people who are truly good but only those who seem mean so I can understand if they are lashing out at people who rub you the wrong way but the people that they troll at shouldn't even be doing that.

LOL those are cute. But I think we should just ignore them and let their drabble sink into oblivion. They are just not worth the effort to respond to.

reply

I truly wish it worked that way. But it never ever does. Not on this board.

Exaggerate the essential, leave the obvious vague. —Vincent Van Gogh

Every successful show has them! Most die off eventually due to boredom or a new show steals their attention. There are some, however, who are extremely motivated and persistent and stay for months at a time. The trick is to never feed them. Let them starve. No food for troll = a dead troll.

reply

That's what I usually do and we really tried that last season, but it didn't work. It got really bad for a while, nothing like it is now. We were overrun with both the garden variety trolls and the religious fanatics. And the only thing that really worked was first refusing to take their crap and then ignoring them, second. The problem is, even if most agree to ignore them, someone always comes in and keeps it going. And last season, one of our current male-monikered female trolls had two cohorts and/or alternate identities and took over every thread. It was awful.

So anyway, that's why I fight back now. At least in the initial stage. Turn it back on them because the other way didn't phase them. Hopefully, it doesn't get like that again but we'll be seeing more of them after each episode. Hopefully, a lot of our old regulars will come back to help, too, once the season gets going. We eventually just sort of overpowered and outnumbered them and they finally gave up.

That's the thing you need more positive people to over power them. They don't like an even playing field nor being ganged up on.They want power and enjoy it.

Yes that's how I feel. Someone will always come along and "feed" them. It might as well be me with my thick skin towards random people.

YUP! People who just come on to bash a show that others love have no respect for other viewers enjoyment and are a useless waste of time. They aren't going to change anyone else mind but apparently have no other purpose in life but to use their time in fruitless endeavors. Pathetic really.

reply

I take this as the side effect of a great show, given my experiences on certain other boards (GoT, TWD).

Looks like the Unholy Trinity of Trolls is back. They come and go together. At least two of them are the opposite sex of what their screen names indicate. They love to bait and hurl insults. Don't take any of it personally. Everything they say is too idiotic to get upset about. It has absolutely no worth other than the small amount of comedic value you might be able to mine from it. In their cases, I definitely recommend ignoring them. Or keeping them to one thread because they will go on for days. And if you check their profiles you'll see this is all they do, on every board. Bait, belittle and bully.

Exaggerate much?

Ok What's so great about the series, 'Lucifer'.

Tom's cheesy jokes?
Cute women?
Deep philosophic messages?

The new 'Exorcist' series sure kicked the stupid out of Lucifer the Buffy Slayer.

reply

Once i have read ONE trolling post I no longer read anymore and i NEVER read any replies to my posts. I make it a rule not to get sucked in and not to give them any of my daylight.

reply

I'm revising my earlier statement. It's not like the Zombie Apocalypse.

It's like the

GOD DAMNED ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE!

They just keep feeding and multiplying.

And we wonder why we're experiencing all the horror in the world right now. When 5% of internet posters are trolls, who have nothing better to do than attack strangers and spew hate for the purpose of disrupting a peaceful assembly on the internet, it's easy to see how that kind of psychopathy in real life has an effect on the world at large.

Time to get out the shovels.

I'm going to be spending the next 8 weeks gathering blankets and supplies for the homeless and working on a graphic novel. The trolls are going to be on here spewing hate and wasting their time. People who get more enjoyment out of being "nasty" rather than "kind" must have a mental condition.

Tomorrow is Monday, I'm looking forward to seeing Lucifer and moms interactions.

and the trolls just get put on ignore. I too can't wait for tonight. Judging by the sneak peek I think it will be intense.

LOL I just think there is something mental wrong with people who get their jollies that way - they were the insecure bullies in school who put down others in an attempt to make themselves feel important when in reality they have no friends and no one wants to hang out with them.
Ignore them and enjoy communicating with the good about this entertaining show we have found ourselves hooked on.
On that note can't wait to see mum and Luci's interactions tonight.

reply

Me too, can't wait.

I just wish we could have the old board back, with fun people who like discussing the show, and aren't here to sling garbage.

These trolls keeping bringing to mind the image of gorillas at the zoo slinging feces at zoo-goers. At least the Gorillas are justified. The trolls, not so much.

Those were chimpanzees and not gorillas. And it's not a parable about naughty boys throwing rocks at chimps, or simians fighting back. It's about zookeepers not monitoring guest/animal interaction.

All that conspiracy theory prognosis, just because some people aren't enthralled with a show you like.

I've put them back on ignore and decided not to waste my time. Neither of them have watched the show and have admitted to being trolls. It's their decision to portray themselves in this manner.
