Pass.

Tonight's episode was very interesting indeed. Halfway through I found myself looking up who the director and writers were. There were several quirky and humorous scenes, interesting character building moments and huge plot twist.

And, of course, the ending was cool. The part where a police officer orchestrated the kidnapping of an innocent man by the Russian mob. This man will very likely be tortured and killed and Detective Douche is fully complicit in this crime. Wonder how this'll turn out...

The police didn't orchestrate it, Maze did. She was on the phone with the mobsters.

Dan only aided and abetted. He's more than willing to make the sacrifice to help Chloe get justice as he still loves her (hence the look on his face when Chloe testified about Lucifer), because he f'd up with Charlotte.

But likely nothing will come of it. The mobsters cover their tracks well.

Toe-MAY-toe, toe-MAH-toe. Split hairs all you like, he is still a conspirator and is equally guilty.

I'm sure "nothing will come if it" as far as the mob is concerned, but what about Dan? What "sacrifice" is he making?

If nothing comes of it, as far as Dan is concerned, then some people here are gonna be really, really upset, for they are on record insisting that the police can't commit crimes, but if they do, they can't get away with it. (At least not on this show!) Personally I don't care... but some people here were sooo emphatic about it they're likely to slit their wrists over this...

Yes, so?

Chloe shot a civilian. She takes advantage of breaking and entering. Did you think she was a by-the-book cop?

If it ever does come to light or the mob tries to extort him, he will take the fall for Chloe.

So... nothing. It seems we agree so we'll just leave it at that.

Chloe shot a civilian. She takes advantage of breaking and entering. Did you think she was a by-the-book cop?

No, quite the opposite. That's why I though she should've shot her father's killer when she had the chance. (and said as much in the OP of this tread; http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4052886/board/nest/263060771 ) I thought it would've made the character, and thus the show, more interesting. It was other people here who got really, really upset at that suggestion, vehemently arguing that 'police would never do that' and that 'it would be bad for the show'.

If it ever does come to light or the mob tries to extort him, he will take the fall for Chloe.

See? That's just it. Now that Dan has done this, it has opened the door for all kinds of possibilities, both plot-wise and character development-wise. In other words, it makes the show more interesting. Had Dan rejected the idea of helping the mob kidnap Chloe's father's killer because "I'm a cop and can't do such a thing because of the code of ethics... that would've sucked. Just like when Chloe chose to not shoot her father's killer... the reaction of myself and many others was "Blah. How boring and predictable."

Meh. If those folks are fans of this show and still think that, they haven't been paying attention to this show.

Exactly. We are on the same page. Cheers.

I agree that Dan is yet again making very questionable choices. Choices that will affect his soul, not just his relationships and his job. I still have a feeling that Dan is going to make mistakes that he may not be able to recover from. I've always felt that at the end of the show, Dan or Amenadiel will be redeemed but probably not both of them and that one of them will die as a result of his poor choices. I was leaning toward Amenadiel, since he dies in the comic, but I don't know, Dan keeps making a really good case for himself. Kevin Alejandro admitted the character makes poor choices, but that deep down he has a "strong moral" compass, he just doesn't seem to know how to read it.

The reason Chloe didn't shoot her father's killer is more apparent than ever now. Lucifer himself called her "truly good". We now know she was created by God with a specific purpose. She has been touched by The Divine. Killing a perp would absolutely be out of character for her. Whether you'd like to see her do it or not, it's just not who she is. I don't think it could be spelled out any more clearly after last night's episode.

"There is a crack in everything

reply

It was a questionable choice, because as a cop he is supposed to act by the book.
But I wouldn't say it would affect his soul.
The guy had it coming, and is definitely heading to hell.

reply

Killing someone is definitely one of the reasons you go to hell. Especially a cop, who shouldn't be engaging in vigilante justice. Whether the guy had it coming or not, it's a mortal sin. That automatically condemns your soul to hell, unless you repent. But according to Lucifer, just saying you're sorry's not good enough. You have to prove it through your actions. I think Dan's got quite a bit to redeem himself for. He just keeps making bad decisions. Even sleeping with Mum, which was really not his fault or intentional, shows how he just can't seem to avoid doing the wrong thing. One day, the wrong thing may be too much for him to come back from. Although I'm still leaning toward Amenadiel being the one to die at the end of the show. His death will be an act of repentance and he will die saving Lucifer, or Chloe, or the world or something, in my imagination, anyway.

I did have you on ignore until a few days ago when I thought I'd make another attempt to converse civilly. I decided this after hearing that you make sense once in a while and were no longer a troll trying to make everyone feel like crap for enjoying the show. Stupid me. The first post of yours I read was you trashing me yet again. Did you not see my response to that?

That aside, thank you for removing the posts that mixed my quotes with someone else's. I don't like reporting people to the administrators no matter how annoyed I am.

I wasn't planning to sue you but since you brought it up, I really do wish people knew how easy it is to be sued on the internet. A website can be subpoenaed, like any other business, and asked to produce their user's contact info. Most big websites will comply because they don't want to be named in the suit as well. Suing internet users is not difficult at all.

So my point is. People should be nicer to each other. The internet isn't nearly as anonymous as everybody thinks it is. All it takes is one fed up person, or one evil crackpot (I knew a guy who did this for kicks), and a person could end up spending a lot of money defending themselves.

reply

Yeah, wouldn't that be nice? No, that's how this guy wins his lawsuits. He sues people who don't live near him, gets an emergency hearing scheduled for 24-48 hours away so the people can't get there in time, or can't afford to get there, and he wins by default. He's won many cases against people from other countries. But even more from other states.

And even if those people don't pay up, they now have a judgment on their record that they always have to disclose which can affect a lot of things, getting a job, a house, etc. And if he wants, he can continue to pursue them for payment. The man is an evil megalomaniac, who's trying to control all information about himself on the internet. But I learned something from it, it's not hard to do what he does at all.

I know this because he sued a website I ran because he didn't like what people were saying about his protocol in the comments. He wanted the entire site shut down because of what a couple people said. That time, instead of going after them, he went after my site. I'm the first person who ever beat him in court, but it cost me a lot of money. Fortunately, a bunch of people on the website chipped in for my legal fees. But I had just 24 hours to find and hire an attorney in his town who'd go to court for me before my check could get to him! No easy feat. (Weird they don't take credit cards.) Fortunately, I found somebody and the judge said it was so frivolous he threw it out of court. But if I hadn't had representation, the plaintiff would have automatically won, which is how he wins all his cases. I learned about website hosts too. They will throw you under the bus without having any facts at all as soon as they receive a subpoena.

There's another guy in my old town who goes to mom and pop businesses and if they're violating some handicap access law, he sues and always wins. It's kind of sad. Of course, handicap laws are there for a reason and need to be observed. But he never goes after big abusers, just little guys struggling to survive who can't afford the legal fight. It's literally how he makes his living. Everyone knows about him, he was even written up in the local paper.

So that's the litigious society we live in. It's equal opportunity, too. Almost anyone can take advantage of the system. But my whole point was, people think they're anonymous on the internet, and they really aren't. All it takes is a subpoena, which anyone can get, and boom, you're being sued for libel, etc. It's rare that a company will stand up for their customer's right to privacy. Apple did recently because the scope of their argument went far beyond the terrorist the government was trying to locate, but your average website host won't think twice about throwing a user under the bus if it keeps their name out of a lawsuit.

This is the court's fault.

There is no reason for an 'emergency' hearing without documentation backing up the 'emergency'. If any court grants him this, then it's the court's fault.

If he wins? The defendants can file an appeal and he doesn't get paid squat until the appeal is heard.

In the previous posts, you quoted my statement and then used somebody else's statements to claim I was contradicting myself. My question is, how can anything you say be taken seriously when you can't even keep people straight?

I'm not trying to control anything. Sounds like you're trying to control me.

Not necessarily.

The mob may not even know who Dan is.

Maze made the call.

Dan didn't do anything but talk to the guy then walk away. The mob may just think he's some guy off the street.

"Can you keep a secret? Can you know something and never speak of it again?"

reply

It doesn't matter if the mob knows. Dan knows. And we the viewer know. Dan was clearly involved. To me, that makes things more interesting.

Do you not agree that was an interesting plot development?

Dan knows. And we the viewer know. Dan was clearly involved.

According to me it was Dan's idea ..he asked Maze (being a Bounty hunter she would have quiet a few "friends" )to help him organise the whole thing.

To me, that makes things more interesting.

For sure.

Do you not agree that was an interesting plot development?

Yes , it was an unexpected event just like when we found out that Dan had shot Malcolm and Co, in the Palmetto case.

I don't think he would have done this , had Charolotte not used the information she "stole" from his cell, while he was sleeping off the active night he had with her.

He felt bad that the guilty warden got off.

I hope Chloe never finds out she would not agree with Dan's choice.

Chloe would have kept an eye on the warden and being the corrupt $hit he was sooner rather than later he would have been involved in something illegal again and Chloe would have nailed him.

If what Dan did comes out , it will destroy what's left of his relationship with Chloe....and Trixie would have a murderer and a con for a father.

Was it necessary for Dan to have one last say with the warden ?...I got this feeling that we will be seeing more of Dan's darkside in the near future.

Yes both Dan and Maze care for Chloe.

I think the scene with Dan and the warden is revealing ..
Dan points out to the warden that he knows he murdered Decker's father and the guy who was going to testify against him and the warden in a very smug tone says ..:' but there is no evidence.'

I believe that Dan yield to the dark side only because he felt it was up to him to make thinks right
Had he not slept with Mom she would not have got her hands on his cell and information she used to favour the warden.

Had the warden got off for some other reason that didn't involve Dan , I think he would have kept his hands clean .

He would have helped Chloe try bring him down legally.

And, of course, the ending was cool. The part where a police officer orchestrated the kidnapping of an innocent man by the Russian mob. This man will very likely be tortured and killed and Detective Douche is fully complicit in this crime. Wonder how this'll turn out...

He was NOT innocent. He was guilty as hell and got off on a technicality. Granted Dan was taking matters into his own (and Maze's) hands, which is not right, but I can totally see him doing this. He was after all the one behind Palmetto incident after all. So totally in character.

I really hope to see Dan and Maze partnering more often. I think they play very well together.

Maybe they'll make a love connection Barb. lol

Hey, I'm just going by what we saw on screen. He wasn't convicted of anything, so in the eyes of the law, he was an "innocent man".

Are you saying he deserved to have a rogue cop conspire to have him kidnapped, tortured and killed? I wouldn't disagree, but there are others on this board who would...

I'm in a position I can get the annual law enforcement discount at Knotts Berry Farm. Every year around Thanksgiving we get a free entry. Or we did last I used it 6 yrs ago.

although even that is up for debate. Depends who the Chief is.

We aren't supposed to benefit from our position.

And yes, it was department policy not to say where we work. Last ethics class I attended they told us those school things where the parent comes to talk about their job? We are to inform public affairs and they will send someone from that office to represent the department.

The biggest thing about the department is not to cause embarrassment.

This is the reason we are to keep mum.

My clients are, for the most part, convicted felons. Today I had to order a corrected court order where a client was accidentally mis-sentenced. Years instead of months.
