Contacting previous partners

Why is he contacting someone from 3 years ago? The CDC says to contact all partners from 3 to 6 months prior. Did any of the writers on this show do any research?

He seems a bit... I don't know. Dims not quite the word. A bit dozy and out of it. Also, he seems shocked when told he has an STD. It could be he overreacted and is being overly cautious or he just didn't hear her.

OR the writers were a bit lazy and wanted to have a good amount of material for the show and he doesn't seem like the kind to have sex loads in three-six months. Who cares though? It's not the worst error in TV/Cinema

Maybe they are trying to show that deep down he feels really guilty so to make sure he contacts everyone he goes back further ... Or maybe it's bad writing either way it's TV .. If u want facts watch the news .. Though not BBC !!

Maybe he thinks he's had it for 3 years?

But whatever reason limits the need to contact people more than X months ago would also apply to his own awareness of whether he had it, correct? Of course he may not have the sense to figure that out.

Why would writers in the UK care about what the CDC recommends, unless of course he contracted the infection in the US? And even if they did I'm willing to suspend disbelief for the sake of storytelling. It's not a glaring error.

It's ridiculous. Chlamydia isn't exactly public enemy #1 considering how easy it is to get rid of it.

Yes, it is easy to treat, but untreated, it has very serious side effects, including pelvic inflammatory disease (which can lead to scarring and infertility). And since it tends to be asymptomatic in women, many women don't know that they have it, which is why many doctors test for it during one's annual pelvic exam. So it is serious ...
