Feeling really cheated as the denouement took place during the closing titles - rapidly alternating between titles and snippets.
Basically it was overall a mediocre series and felt I had wasted my time watching it.
I can only assume it was left open to allow a second series but here we are two years down the line and it's still not available in the UK - assuming it has even been made.
Although I enjoyed the series, I too felt disappointed by the ending.
I can only imagine that this was done in order to set the scene for a second season. Sadly, this does not seem to be in the offing.
It seems an odd decision by Channel 4 to show the first of which was so obviously intended to be a two or three season series. Either Channel 4 did not check or did not care about The Border having life beyond season 1. If that is how little they think of their audience then they have a problem!
I feel more let down by Channel 4 than I do about The Border. I found the series interesting and entertaining. In addition, it was refreshing to see actors who were unfamiliar to me.
I agree, it is infuriating to invest your time in a series which hits a dead end.

I was peeved about the ending, until I did a search to see if there was likely to be a season 2 and apparently there is. I found this article in the Evening Standard dated June 21st.
4) A second series has literally just been announced
The first season of The Border consists of six episodes, originally aired in October 2014, and was thought to be a one-off mini-series.
However, HBO Poland have just announced that a second season is in production. The drama has proved a success across the world, and new episodes will be arriving in Poland later this year.
Thanks for that info; I just hope we get it before I've forgotten happened in season one!
