Found footage that delivers

Outside the fact that this is actually a really scary film, the most satisfying part is that it delivers on its premise - by the time the film is over, the story is clear, we know - and have seen - who the dark forces are in the woods, why they are here and why they act the way they do - and the storyline is tied nicely together, with an ending that's not just running around the woods with heavy panting.

As a huge bonus, I really enjoyed the references to John Carpenter through out, and the production design overall - the audio production is quite impressive, and everything down to the on-screen boxy flickering when cameras are turned on or evil forces draw close are really well designed. I personally really enjoy when effort has gone into these kind of details.

I know this is a danish film, and a lot of the conversations here on the board (excluding this one of course) I had to translate lol. My question is whether this movie has english subtitles.

reply

Yes, I'm about to watch the movie, now, and its english subtitled..

I'm hoping that what's being said is indeed true, about this actually being a good horror film that actually delivers. If so, it'll be one of very few horror films of recent years that does deliver..TBC...

reply

It gives the occasional goosebumps, but i wouldn't really say that it is that scary.

reply

Scary? My neighbours feet are scarier. This is just another "yell"-flick, where the people involved believe yelling, shouting and using english profanity gets the message across in a more understandable way.
There is nothing new here. It's all been done before.
So, why waste precious time on this? No reason. Just like Boybands, avoid!

I fail to see how "It's all been done before" is a true criticism. Just about eerything's been done before in one way or another.

What was the end verdict? I'm revisiting the idea of watching this flick again..

I didn't think it was scary at all. Mostly, it was boring. The best part was the usage of actual locations and of course the CGI which wasn't expected for a film this small. I'd have a hard time staying awake if I had to see it again.
