I haven't read the novels but loved HHGTTG. The earlier British series was great but short lived. Heard they skipped out on the more crazy parts of Adams' stories as they would be expensive to reproduce. I'd heard that many DGHDA plot elements were recycled from his 3 Doctor Who scripts.

This being set in the US already has points against as does having Todd be the main character instead of the title one. The 50 crazy plot elements that one hopes will make sense after a season or so (starting to tire of "watch the whole show to figure it all out-we'll drag it out for years to hook you in" type shows). The lottery ticket & time travel already make it very Lost-ish.

I'll keep up but it better be more satisfying. Did Adams' books have the sick sister, the holistic assassin, the military guys watching, the serial killer victim upstairs, the missing girl in the missing dog guy's house, the soul sucking biker gang, etc.?

I agree about hary potter, he shouldn't be the central character, especially as guy playing dirk is, um, AWESOMENESS

I think you have your actors mixed up. That's Frodo, not Harry.
