Why the "R" rating?

I've watched this movie and then saw that it has an MPAA R rating. It has no violence, nudity or profanity.
It seems like the MPAA wants the less people to watch it the better...

A number of uses of the F-word, I would guess is the reason why. Too bad....it's a story that should be seen young, old, and in-between, as you said.

 The bad news is you have houseguests. There is no good news. 

You're only allowed one use of the "F" word (or other sexually-explicit profanity) in a PG-13 release, and it must be in a non-sexual context. This is the less-strict version of the MPAA's so-called "Automatic Language Rule" in effect since the birth of the PG-13 in 1984.
Prior to that, any such use would result in an "R".
