Why did Janet see herself through the window? I really can't work out this scene. Her seeing two Maurice's was to point out he was why the poltergeist was staying. If this is the case then why two Janets?

The way I see it is what she and her family experienced was so traumatic she dissociated herself. This means she stepped away from herself mentally. Kind of like hiding inside her mind. This is common in kids who experience traumatic abuse or even those who have been in war. It's like an out of body experience. You are watching someone else go through it so you can survive. Her banging on the window was her way to get back into herself since the spirit was suppose to be gone. But she couldn't get back.
