I didn't understand this scene, was it Hanks or Mannys father? It seems to me that he was Hanks father, but if that's the case, why should he identify Manny and why was he so upset?

He said to the reporter his name was Manny and that's why they thought it was the dead guys phone. So the father went to identify the dead guy as his son but he didn't look at the body so didn't know it wasn't his son.

I'm guessing Manny's corpse was real and when the father first sees the body bag, he assumes it's his son.

However Hank is giving the news interview and his father realizes his son is still alive.
