"Don't I know you" line (spoilers)

Near the end, the news camera operator says to Hank, "Don't I know you?". I couldn't figure this out; why would the cameraman have ever encountered Hank before? Or what was the purpose of having that line in the film? :

I wondered about this too. One of the IMDb trivia items says: "Shane Carruth, director of Primer (2004) and Upstream Color (2013), makes a cameo as the coroner toward the end of the movie. He tells Paul Dano's character that he looks familiar."

I'm sure this must be wrong, because I, like you, recall it being the cameraman who said that, not the coroner. That aside, I'm confused as to why he would have looked familiar too. Maybe it was an in-joke or reference to some other movie, who knows.
