Casey Affleck was Booed at the SAG Awards

Jesus talk about disrespectful

As if any of the Actors in that room haven't done worse than Wake up drunk in an intern's bed.

Seriously why is Casey getting so much Hate? He didn't Rape or Murder anyone do what's the Beef?

Jesus this overly PC World is annoying me

reply

If you read the allegations, you wouldn't (or shouldn't) think this is an example of being overly PC. He's alleged of putting the two women through constant sexual harassment on the set of I'm Still Here. They showed up to work, and he (allegedly) repeatedly got in their way. Also, she wasn't an intern, she was the Director of Photography. At the time she was the only woman on the shoot.

They were just trying to show up and work (on his passion project), and they were repeatedly degraded for doing nothing more than their jobs. Which is disgusting, if true. I don't really understand how that can be "too PC" of a complaint for you to handle.

reply

It was years ago.

If it was recent and see where the Hate was coming from. But it was years ago when he was young, cocky and stupid

Now he's grown up and professional.

I'm sure most of the Actors we admire have done worse

reply

Just because someone has done worse doesn't excuse what he did. I agree, it's disrespectful to boo someone over their personal life, however what he did (if true) is inexcusable. And it may be fresh feelings, as I feel like his success with Manchester by the Sea rebrought up the news story. Personally I hadn't heard about it until recently.

And what is the proper reaction? Because what he allegedly did was not ok. Should the planet/industry just go "ok he's an *beep* but a good actor so let's celebrate him!"? I personally don't believe booing is great, but he should know and be reminded that consistently harassing someone for literally no reason, other than the fact that they have a vagina, is NOT ok.

And it wasn't years ago, it was in 2010, production on that film was in 2009. Affleck was in his 30's.

I'll continue to post as factually correct information as I can. Thanks!

reply

It's definitely not okay but I think, if the allegations are true, it amounts to Casey Affleck just being an asshole. If we are going to start ignoring actors work because of rumors of them being assholes, we will have nothing to watch. He doesn't deserve to be lumped in with someone like Bill Cosby, whose allegations are truly sinister.

It isn't something that is unforgivable. I would put it in the same category as Mel Gibson. He was going through a rough time, abusing alcohol and/or drugs and said some truly despicable things. Years later, hopefully he has learned the error of his ways. Actually I would say Gibson is a bit worse since he was drunk driving -- could have killed someone! I guess the difference is Affleck hasn't admitted what he did was wrong and that he feels bad now. So he could still be just as horrible of a person... or maybe he just didn't do it.

reply

Words are cheap. At some point the human race is going to
have to deny this kind of success and fame to people who behave
like this. Let the chips fall where they may.

reply

"He was young and stupid (he was an adult), it was years ago". Tell that to the alleged victims. Casey Affleck may have forgotten it, but someone who has been sexually harassed usually has to deal with a serious emotional trauma for years.

ALLEGATIONS, NOT FACT! Get over yourself woman, you are not as "special" or "precious" as you like to think you are. Nobody cares about your insecurities, except female phonies like you who feel insignificant in the presence of the all mighty and powerful males, that make you go all weak at the knees. I bet secretly you wish it was you.

Allegations that he settled over.
Based on your comment I don't think I'm the one that believes I'm "special" or "precious", go back to whatever hatred filled safe space you came from.

I can't really tell if this is a troll because it's so hilariously offensive?

What does harassment have to do with going to the hospital??? That's more than just harassment, that's assault. Suing for harassment doesn't mean you suffered bodily injury, genius. The woman is always lying according to your slanted point of view. (Now watch him get all pissy because he was challenged. Can't take his own medicine)

"According to Gorka’s complaint, she awoke in the middle of the night to find Affleck lying in bed next to her. She alleges that the actor was “curled up next to her in the bed wearing only his underwear and a T-shirt. He had his arm around her, was caressing her back, his face was within inches of hers and his breath reeked of alcohol.” Unaware of how long Affleck had been there or whether or not he had touched her while she slept, Gorka said she was “shocked and repulsed.” When she ordered Affleck out of bed, he allegedly responded, “Why?” to which she replied, “Because you are married and you are my boss.” Affleck then allegedly asked if she was “sure,” and when Gorka remained resolute, she claimed Affleck “left and slammed the door in anger.” Gorka then said that she flew back to New York, informed her agent of Affleck’s sexual advances, and quit the project."

What injuries did the "victims" suffer, hospitalization, medication, emergency room visit? Nothing.
_____________
My gosh, just the worst thing that could ever happen to a woman, finding a drunken man that she knew, lying in a bed next to her. It must have been an absolutely horrendous experience for this scheming and phony opportunist. At least people now think that Affleck is "straight" over this.

Yes, you are hilarious, and your victim mentality and hatred for males in general is offensive, you sexist, misandrist, chauvinist sow. I bet you are feminist and think that men are inferior and owe you the world. Sorry you drew the short straw in the gender stakes and were born with a tw@t, but it is fitting, because that is what you are. As if you really care about the "alleged" victims, you are as fake and transparent as they come. Now get back into the kitchen and do whatever men tell you to do.

It must be really exhausting to have that much vitriol for half of the planet. I hope when you enter reality it isn't too hard on you.

It's all a one way street with you isn't it? You are so shortsighted and biased, that you feel that something is always worse and deplorable, if something happens to a female as opposed to a male. YOU DON'T CARE ABOUT HOW MEN ARE TREATED BY OTHER WOMEN OR MEN. They get what they deserve as far as you're concerned.

Where does this sense of self-entitlement and self-importance stem from within you? Were you spoiled and pampered as a child and told how wonderful and special you were, so began to believe it. Well guess what sweetums, you were lied too. Or perhaps you are just so butt ugly, no decent male in his right mind would even want to bother lying next to you. Either way, you come across as misguided, deluded and narcissistic sexist woman, who gives decent females a bad rap, who do appreciate men and don't try to scheme and manipulate their way around them, so as to get their own way.

denzel was so sick and *beep* tired of casey mentioning his name

reply

I didn't hear any boos. Compared to what Mel Gibson and Mark Wahlberg have pulled, I wouldn't worry so much about Affleck.

reply

Yeah, Hollywood didn't take it's time getting over Mel Gibson's disgraces.

reply

Wahlberg was charged with some crimes that sounded like they'd be hate crimes today, beating up Vietnamese dudes. He never gets any static over that, but to me a leopard doesn't change its spots.

reply

It's only when something happens to poor, oppressed and victimized women that make it so much worse, because they don't think they are equal to men. Will they ever be?

Don't eat the whole ones!...Those are for the guests. 🍪

reply

Yeah, Hollywood didn't take it's time getting over Mel Gibson's disgraces.

That's because anti-Semitic views are now part of the modern Democratic platform due to Israel/Palestine.

I did. He told them to "settle down" right as soon as he reached the mic.

I read the account of what went on with the sexual harassment and it sounded (from 3 women no less) pretty detailed.

reply

Are you sure they were boos? When they did Best Actor and showed his clip, he got a lot of applause. That doesn't make sense if they booed him earlier.

Yes, because there weren't hundreds of people in the audience.

...when women verbally mock men in the same way, you could give a sh-t. Thats why men don't take women seriously; start being more honest and pulling your weight, and men might allow you more consideration.

We can't expect women to be given the same treatment as men IY, that would then mean they have this equality thing they so desperately desire. Yeah, women want equality; but also the preferential treatment they have always received to go along with it, so is it really equality that they want, or just a desperate attempt to feel superior in presence of the all mighty and dominating male?

Seriously why is Casey getting so much Hate?

What's the big deal about a little sexual harassment among the film community? It must be agonizing for a brown-nosing Casey fan like yourself to see people taking these complaining women seriously. They should consider themselves lucky a 'star' paid them some attention - if this had happened to your GF/wife/sister/daughter, that's what you'd tell her, right?

reply

you called the DP an intern? talk about disrespectful

reply

Is there something shameful about being an intern?

I'm a real kewl kat.🐈

reply

Yeah, after the SAGs I don't think he is going to get the Oscar. I also don't think Denzel is going to get it either. I believe Garfield, like Brody 15 years ago, is going to pull an upset. I personally liked Garfield better than Affleck. Both great performances but Garfield is one hell of an actor. Plus, it would make a cutesy story if him and Stone, former lovers, both won. His performance as Desmond Dos was so powerful. You saw the struggle in his eyes with the hardship of him sticking to his morals. I really enjoyed that performance.
