I Just Saw This

I didn't expect much from this, because on these horror indie movies, I usually believe what the lowest-rated reviews say, because they're usually right. Not on this one. Some gave it a 1-star rating. They must've really hated it.

I thought Niamh Algar, the lead, did a fantastic job. In most high-budget Hollywood films, when a character is supposed to cry, they crinkle their face and emote, but they forget a primary symptom of crying -- TEARS! Niamh had tears running down her face when she was crying, as well as when she was overcome with smoke. Also, in soo frickin' many Hollywood films, if one of the very high-paid actors' characters breaks their arm or some other limb, they emote a tad bit, but that's it. When Niamh has to cut off one of her fingers and then wrap it...yeah, I felt her pain in her expressions and yells. I think Niamh is destined for great things.

Now, for the movie itself, it was original but I didn't understand why the monster would pull people under the water when it could clearly walk and attack on land. It looked like an orc that got lost on its way to The Lord of the Rings. lol.

One thing they overused was they'd focus on a character, and you could see the creature out-of-focus in the background. They did it about 4-5 times. Once was fine. Twice was eye-rolling. Three or more times was overkill.

I gave this a 5-star rating due largely to Niamh Algar's acting ability. As I said, I think she'll go far if Hollywood will actually give that attractive woman a chance at acting.

Yeah, Niamh Algar was absolutely brilliant in this movie! and these creatures reminded me of dementors a bit, can hardly explain it, just association

Totally agree about Niamh Algar. She was fantastic and I too rated it higher largely because of her. I hope to see her in more films.

R.I.P. Rick Ducommun and Tony Longo
