I didn't like Only God Forgives, but I liked this ... and spoke to Refn
Refn's self-doubt was a revelation because his film was all over the place and just fell short for me. This doc really is insightful into the film's failings. I could always sense there was a creative mind, daring to explore the boundaries of cinema, in Only God. Maybe if he feels a little more confident about what the film is about, he'll probably produce another great work.
