Why is this still rated so high?

This film was rated over a 9. Now its dropped to around a 7 since normal people started watching it and realized it was garbage. Sooner or later it will be under 5.

Why do some films get such high ratings on IMDB when first released? Are the films 'owners' actually hiring people to rate it?

Like that crapshow Peter Dinklage was in Knights of Badassdom had over a 9 for a while too, right after release, before being blasted by everyone who was unfortunate to watch it.
