I found it okay, but not as great as it's made out to be on reddit.

I did watch the extended version, so maybe the third act feels really drawn out because of that.

The sex scenes... Not a biiiiig fan, but not super against them either. I can honestly see both sides of the argument. So, I'm only going to complain about specifically the last one. I found the last sex scene really gratuitous and unnecessary, downright softcore porn. It would have been perfectly okay to end it with them on the boat. Well, actually, now that I've thinked more about it (this is like, my gazillionth edit) I think they did go a bit overboard. Like, if you wanna show her eating her friend out, that's perfectly fine by me; but do you really need to show her sticking her tongue out and then having her lower face all wet? I feel like the moment it starts showing body juices, that's a bit much. So, it wouldn't have hurt to tone it down back a notch.

Also, they end up going to Shanghai. Of all the places to go in the early 1900s, I feel like China is kind of far from the ideal one, with all the seriously fucked up shit that would happen a few years down the line. So, I sort of feel worried for them because of that.

My main complain, though is about the guy's fate. I mean, he was an asshole, but they all were. Literally every single character in the movie. So, I really didn't like it how he had to be tortured, when he was just as bad as the other two were. I would have ended it when he wakes up and has two samurai looking at him. Beyond that, it sort of felt like feminist jerk-off. It's perfectly okay for them to win, IMO, it's just the guy's punishment went overboard.

Lastly, the book ruining scene. I hated that scene. It was actually the worst part of the movie. So many old books, who knows how many of them were rarities without copies got ruined all because of a tantrum. I mean, kill the old guy, rape him, torture him, whatever. But not the books. The books did nothing to you. It was really, really, really painful to watch.

So, overall, pretty decent. But I feel like it's more of a diamond in the rough. And that fan edit could be made out of it that would make it from a pretty decent, to an outstanding movie.
