I wonder: Is it going to be part of this continuity or are we going to have another concurrent Supergirl out there like they are doing with Flash and Superman?

It'll be a different Supergirl. I can't see Melissa wanting to do a movie as well.

They wont use her for the movie just like Ezra Miller replaced Grant Gustin as Flash in Justice League.

Except Gustin is a way better Flash than Miller.

They'll probably recast it for the movie. Kind of like how there's a movie Cyborg and the one on Doom Patrol. Teresa Palmer would had been perfect but she may be older than what they want.

Might they change her surname since Captain Marvel's is also Danvers?

In the comics, Supergirl's adoptive name is Linda Lee Danvers. Linda Lee the name Superman gave her when she arrived and she was adopted by Fred and Edna Danvers. (Action Comics #279, August, 1961)
