Why not just stand on someone's shoulders...


...to get up to the kitchen door? It didn't look that high up, and the two guys (not Rory Culkin) were tall enough. It would have been easier to punch or push through that door, no?

Because then the film would have been only 30 minutes long. Movies are usually around 90 minutes long, so they probably didn't want the intruders to stand on each other's shoulders to escape right away.

All the other doors seemed to be reinforced steel. Even if they could reach the door, there's the possibility they couldn't have gotten through.

soon after they locked down there she opened the door to bedroom and locked the guy in there. didn't have time to think of something like that
