Crappy Ending (Spoilers)

This could have been so good, But as soon as she let the last two out in the stupidest decision ever, it just killed the movie. What a waste of such a cool crazy basement. Plus, I agree with other posters that her sudden ability to leave was unrealistic.

Yeah I agree. She should have just killed Danny and got rid of the bodies while she went on with her everyday routine.

reply

Carrigon, i definitely agree that her sudden "miraculous" ability to leave her house was completely unbelievable.

I dont agree. She had a traumatic experience and basically relived it as that guy was trying to rape her/kill her. She finally had the courage to stand up to her 'father' thru him and take her own revenge thus regaining her self worth and independence. Id like to see a follow up where she goes hunting for more pedos.

At the beginning of the movie her brother tells her she needs to forgive her dad.

At the end she shoots her "dad" and says "I forgive you."

It came full circle and it is amazing so many people miss this.

I do not agree. I have myself had a phobia. And I managed to overcome it by myself. Now I am just "scared" of it, but it is not a phobia anymore and does not get me into panic attacks So from someone who have experienced it myself I can just say- yes it is possible!

I wasn't a fan of the ending since I thought it would have been more appropriate if she had died in the house fire with the only survivor being the Culkin.

That being said, I do understand the ending, the fact that she killed the would be rapist/intruder wearing her dads shirt gave her closure which is something her brother was trying very hard to do by having her watch him kill pedo's wearing her dads shirt in the mock up of her room.

Now comes something more interesting that I think the writer(s) of the movie overlooked: were the past victims pedos or was the brother also mentally damaged and looking to relive the killing of his father by making guys wear the same flannel he killed his father in?

Great post. Agree with everything you said.

She burned the house and left because she finally forgave herself.
Most victims think what happened to them was their fault.
She spent a lot of time trying to get the men to be sorry because she wanted it to be her dad.

In the end, she didnt need her dads forgiveness, she only needed her own.

the movie fell flat to me as soon as the big reveal of her killing pedos and trying to guolt that guy into killing himself... the whole ending isn't what i expected. disappointed
