Worth watching ???

Can somebody give me an honest opinion on this show so far ?
I have never heard about it or anything, but am always up for a new show. It doesn't sound all that great and Gerard Depardieu I usually think of as a joke actor. So if I could get some feedback maybe I'll try it.

I'm enjoying it so far. It's a serious show. Not much comedy. I'm 4 episodes in and it's been one discovery after another. Betrayal. Lies. Sex. I say you give the first two eps a shot and if it doesn't catch you, then quit watching. The only character I dislike is the daughter. Something about her, but she seems manipulative. A lot of her father in her, I gather. However, I'm actually pretty invested at this point. I like a lot of the characters and the plots.

I didn't find the first episode particularly interesting. The second was better, so I persisted and watched the rest. It would have helped to know a bit more about how municipal elections work in France, but enjoyable nevertheless.

A joke actor? You must be a joke reviewer ;-)

Watch some of Depardieu's French films and I promise you'll no longer think if him as a joke. He's one of the world's finest character actors.

Listen, I watch a decent amount of international films, but I don't follow Gerard D French films nor do I really care to see them. Looking at the guy just makes me laugh. I actually didn't review the show at all so I don't see where you get a joke reviewer you moron. I was asking opinions on the show. You have great feedback though so thanks for that LMAO... I'm just about to start it.
Sorry I said MO on what I felt about the actor . I see it hit hard. He's the French Marlon Drando ... Ok ?? Lolol

First of all, there is no such thing as a "joke actor" when refering to the acting. The word is comedian.

Second, he has done plenty of "international films" more serious than comedy. Notable, 1492: Conquest of Paradise, The Count of Monte Cristo, Hamlet and A Pure Formality.

Is this worth watching? Well, that depends on how expensive your time is. It's a decent show, but not epic.

reply

No use explaining. Some people wouldn't recognize talent if it smacked him on the face. The internet is full of idiots who know it all.

Does the OP mean comedy actor, perhaps? Depardieu has a vast range and has done everything from the classic Cyrano de Bergerac to the comedy My Father the Hero. Most of his work is in his native French, however. I think he's one of the greatest actors of our time.

reply

Yes and no - the acting and scenery are good, the plot is pretty much "House of Cards" lite and the soundtrack is beyond abysmal...

reply

Actually it reminded me more of "Boss." Mayor fighting for development against organized crime. Daughter dating a drug dealer, etc.

I've read some articles about the show, which made me watch the first three episodes. I was amazed how thew could come up with such a bad product. The actors are bad (which is strange, even Magimel was awful, with a horrible Marseille-like accent), the characters are vulgar, the dialogues are poor and there is strictly no suspense. If you don't speak french, it will perhaps be less painful to watch.
If you want to watch a good french tv-show, i would recommend The Returned.

I\m going to keep watching but I have to agree with this line. Magimel is my favourite French actor and capable of such depth but there's no depth here just stereotypes and clichés. It's banal to say the least.
I'm scared of the middle place between light and nowhere

No: too naive and too boring. Watch Boss (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1833285/reference) instead.

It's worth your while. Good cliffhanger ending as well.
