Is this a recruiting tool?

It seems as though this film centers on a hagiographic display of hand-picked church members, given the glowing poster with its airbrushed actors and deep-saturation color schemes & the intentional multi-national theme in the trailer. Do they address the logistics of the belief system, such as its invention in the 1800s, its basis in racist ideology of that time, or its recapitulation and shuffling of Christian orthodoxy?

Because it seems like an orchestrated & highly-funded response to the roaring success of "The Book of Mormon" on Broadway.

I think we should title it Mormons are people too. This was nothing more than a propaganda piece by the LDS or Mormons as it were to try to keep them beyond the sister wives stereotype. But it failed on every level and came off shallow and uninteresting.

I don't think they mind a bit if it has some proselytizing effect and it certainly boosts the morale of the Mormon faithful. But I think the real target is nullifying the Mormon effect on another run for Mitt Romney.

It was about this time in the last presidential election cycle when they mounted their I Am a Mormon meme which had the same pattern of selecting attractive people who were far from typical and positing that they were representative and should distract people from the fundamentals of Mormonism such as the oath to devote all their resources and talents to the church's effort to return Zion to the earth.

Ironically, they called the year that Mitt was running The Mormon Moment and it ended up acquainting the general population, who previously thought Mormon was synonymous with "nice", with other aspects such as the abuses of baptisms for the dead, the sacred garments (underwear), lack of financial accountability -- which Mitt was kind enough to illustrate and underscore for them -- and the general curtain of secrecy they draw around their religious practices in their temples.

Propaganda pure and simple without any of the doctrine (except maybe a bit about the missionaries paying for the privilege and allowing them only to contact home via email once a week and a phone call on Mother's Day and Christmas).

A lot of feel good stuff and "hey, we include people of color now!".

I wanted them to at least address that if the 92 year old candy dropper was sealed to his first wife, what happens with the second wife?

yup..it's a big fat advertisement.
