Dillon nailed the role.

I don't see why people walked out at Cannes. There was tension and a progression, but nothing too gross or gory.
Jack progressed in depravity and it was disturbing.
The ending was a nod to Dante's Inferno and it was weird. But, thats to be expected with Lars Von Trier.

Nothing too gross?? animal torture is disgusting. I do loved his performance.

It is a bit different to other Von Trier's films but it has some of the usual symbolism and food for thought.
Matt Dillon is really great in this, one of the best performances by an actor in the last decade IMHO.

reply

Excellent film, excellent performance.
