Very Solid Movie

Possible spoiler but not really, just a minor explanation to help guide you through the movie:

Don't let the low rating run you off. I hate movies that make you overthink just to try to figure out what the hell is going on. This movie does not cross that line. The acting is very good in this movie. I loved the music and the overall feel. This movie is underrated. My only complaint is I would have liked just a little more explanation along the way. If you go in the movie realizing that the "reset" essentially destroyed all technology except analog technology and 80's level tech remains and the people in the movie are living in this new environment, it makes a lot more sense.

Enjoy it.

This movie doesn't make you figure out what is going on, because there is nothing going on.

It's easy to "not cross that line", when your not moving....

I fully understood it was a "reset".

Can you explain this movie to me?

SPOILERS

In simplest terms, an unexplained reset occurred in reference to technology which limited the type of technology available. Simon and Max's friend believed there may be more out beyond their city which had guarded boundaries. Their friend attempted to discover what was beyond these boundaries and Simon felt compelled to "rat" on his friend and his friend was killed for these attempts. Before he was killed, he left some clues for Max to help Max discover what he had discovered outside the city boundaries. This involved Simon helping Max unlock the clues. Why would Simon help Max when he essentially got their friend killed? That can be debated, but perhaps the friend knew Simon best and knew Simon would feel compelled to help after being the one who got the friend killed. They go through a process which I agree took too long and was not as clear as it could have been...a process of unraveling the clues. Max and Simon discover a location outside the city that directed them to some magnificent revelations(according to Max in the desert). In an attempt to get Simon to follow Max to these revelations, Simon then reveals he was the one who got their friend killed and he wanted to help Max find the truth outside the city, but he was not going to follow Max. Why Simon would not follow Max is up for debate...perhaps he found "his place" within the corporation where he currently worked which controlled the city and he was within his comfort zone within the reset. During the movie, an unknown person would contact Max via a chat in Max's computer leading him in the direction of unraveling the previously mentioned clues to the outside world. At the end of the movie, a person who we believe to be Max using Max's chat name is now on the other side attempting to make contact to whomever within the city....apparently in the same capacity which Max was helped...

by the way, go to the official website and you can play the video games used in the movie. They were made specifically for the movie and are really cool. Remind me of the good old Atari 2600 days.
