2) Adler's phone said it was September 2nd, which was on a Friday in 2016 and will be on a Saturday in 2017, so in what year is this show set?

3) It makes sense for a season finale to be the last day of the school year and a season premiere to be the first day, but is a 10 to 12 episode season going to cover a whole year?
