Red Oaks pilot
Someone likes it, yet to see it, but sounds possibly ok.

It has potential to be excellent. Paul Reiser cracks me up in this. If they green light 2 of the 5 I hope they choose Really and Red Oaks.

I loved Red Oaks, it's practically the exact same story of my own cousin working at a rich country club where he was a little out of his element in 1985. But I was grief-stricken to see they only made one episode and no one cares.
4 IMDB comments in 5 weeks = dead show
It was a pilot. Amazon makes all its pilots available for the general public to view and give feedback, and then use that feedback when they're deciding which shows to pick up. It was reported today that it has indeed been picked up for a full season. No need for grief.
shareThanks a lot for telling me!
Geez, Amazon must be pissing money, most Red Oaks reviews were negative and there is zero interest in this show (plus none of the leads are known actors). Then again, this is a company whose core business makes 2% net profit sometimes, and a loss other times...
Looking forward to it.
Any idea when this will air?
shareI loved the beginning but after that it felt rather conventionally contructed and unimaginative. To cast that Levon guy as the sidekick felt kind of lame. It is just the usual sidekick face with the generic sidekick story and the usual sidekick habits. Every second with him on screen in a wasted second for the show and for the audience. The idea of quoting the 80ies by copying parts of classic 80ies movies isn't bad, they just did not manage to match the style and try to cash in on american-pie audience too obviously. There is something missing between the lines, some precise observation or nucleus of truth. Rather than finding an audience it seems this show tries to tap into one it already knows to exist.
