Weird 'subliminal' moment

I was watching this the other day, thoroughly enjoyed it, but I spotted something quite bizarre. During the section of the film mentioning the suicide of Marlon Brando's daughter, there's a shot of a magazine cover reporting this story, I spotted a single frame flash where a skull is superimposed over the face of Brando's daughter. It was one of those "wait, what did I just see?" moments so I rewound and lo and behold, there it was again. Thought it was slightly in poor taste if I'm being honest.

Has anyone else spotted this? and are there any more 'subliminals'? Maybe if someone who worked on the film is reading this they may shed some light on why this ended up in the film.

You're right; I just watched that section and if you go frame-by-frame during the zoom in on the newspaper there's a very clear, deliberate super-imposition of a skull over Brando's daughter's face for two frames. I suspect it's one of those things we're expected to feel rather than see, adding to the overall unease.
