The grandma engaged each sister with the 1st candidate that showed up at their house. I get that she's retrograde and doesn't care if 2 people marry for love, but even with that in mind, does she have no standards? What's the point of the meeting with the candidate and his parents?

Is it just her, or is everyone in Turkey who still believes in these traditions like that too?

It's very unlikely this happens in Turkey at all, well atleast not where I live.

She knew the uncle was abusing the girls and wanted to get them married off as soon as possible.

Exactly. Marrying off the girls quickly was the only way the old woman knew to get them away from their pedophile uncle.

She let one girl marry the boy she was in love with. None of the other three girls had boyfriends. If they had, she probably would have let them marry their boyfriends if they were willing. As others have said, she was in a hurry to get the girls away from their monster of an uncle who was raping them.

I'm pretty sure they showed up at the house because she selected them and invited them over.
