This movie was hilarious! Why did it flop?

I just saw this movie and dang it was pretty damn funny! I expected it to be terrible but I was cracking up throughout. Definitely one of the best comedies I've seen in the past couple of years. It might've even been funnier than Deadpool.

But it sucks that this movie only made back less than half its budget. It truly deserved to be a box office hit. I really want to see these guys make some more movies, even if it's not necessarily a sequel to this one. Andy Samberg, Jorma Taccone and Chris Redd were *beep* hilarious in it, as were just about everyone else. See this movie if you haven't already!

The box office has changed the last 5 years. Now movies are seen as events, so people only go to theaters for major blockbusters. movies that bring in 75-200 million are rare. Its either a movie everybody sees or nobody does.

Movies like this will soon all be HBO specials.

Hardly any advertising. There was barely anybody who knew this movie existed. Hopefully it develops a bit more of a following once it comes out on DVD.

I had never even heard of it until someone recently suggested that I check it out. I watch a lot of TV, so you think I would have seen a commercial for it at some point. I put it at the top of my Netflix queue, so I'll watch it soon, but it just seems like it wasn't very well marketed.

It flopped because it wasn't funny. The only part why I slightly smiled was the TMZ spoof. The rest was extremely predictable and about as subtle as a sledgehammer. Should have been a straight--to-tv thing, or a SNL special or something.

That logic makes no sense. Nobody knows if it's funny or not before they see it. Or should they just take your word for it?

I live here in Houston and when the commercial came on it was very quick (about maybe 5-10 seconds) and never even alluded to what the movie was about. Just random scenes and ended with seal getting attacked by the wolves. I thought the movie was hilarious though!

The movie doesn't seem to be a mass appeal film. I think it was always destined to become a cult hit, the only people that saw it in theaters were fans of the lonely island

It was definitely better than Deadpool
