The actress who played Brittany Murphy not only looked nothing like her, but seemed to take all of her funny characters, roll them into one, and perform a horribly bad and exaggerated impersonation of her. Worst acting ever.

She was terrible, period. She looked nothing like her. She stayed fat the entire time (Britney lost her baby face by the time she did the movie with Ashton). She didn't sound or look like her.
The Ashton actor at least acted like Ashton.

Amanda looks like Mariah Carey not Brittany. Someone else like Katee Sockhoff. And the poor girl had no clue what she was doing. The strong New York accent was terrible. Brittany did not have a strong accent. It was a raspy aggressive voice.share

shareI generally don't like commenting on someone's acting, but this was truly horrific. Amanda's accent came and went. She went back and forth in some scenes from trying to act like Brittany and just acting like a character that stuff was happening to, with absolutely no resemblance to how BM spoke or any of her mannerisms. She also looks nothing like her, which I could forgive if the acting was better. All in all, totally off casting. Makes me wonder if there were severe budget limitations, or if this was a controversial movie other actresses didn't want to get involved in.
