Now THAT'S what I call vote rigging!

Seriously, do you think you could have been any more obvious about it?

reply

What are you on about?

Are you just so salty because you were disappointed after spending your pocket money on this and were expecting some great piece of Art with a capital a...?

6.5 sounds about right for initial voters... It'll drop.

Try Fresh Meat for what you *imagine* is happening here - currently sitting on 5.3 but had a rating in the 8-9 for weeks after release thanks to hundreds of industry up-votes.

reply

No, a few hours ago this movie had a rating around 4.0 and a realistic spread of votes. Maybe twenty 10 votes and twenty ones but a bunch around 2-5. Now in a few hours it's been bumped way up to 6.2 with hundreds of mysterious ten votes in a suspiciously short time.

Vote rigging, because what else can ya do when most pople think you movies sucks? 😄

reply

It's the first week of school holidays... Most of the high votes are <18's from the look of it...

I heard it was tripe but the dance/choreography was solid, maybe a lot of Auckland kids are raving about it coz Stan Walker is in it.

He is so hot right now.

reply

Yeah a bunch of Kiwi kids somehow watched the movie in NZ theatres at 4 am and then immediately went straight to IMDb to rate it 10 one at a time!
😄
It was one guy who sat up all night creating fake accounts to upvote the score. You don't have to verify those accounts if all you're using them for is voting. It's one of many weaknesses of this site.

PS - Stan Walker is not "hot" - but hey, nice try!
😆

reply

There the tiny, almost undetectable, level of facetiousness in my post went unnoticed...

reply

LOL! The votebombing is real!

It is funny because there are probably a lot more '10' ratings for this film than there are people who actually paid to see it!

reply

😂 Nice one!

reply

Nearly all votes are either 1-3 or 10. Which suggests to me a lot of people tried to slant the score with negs.

Having seen some truly awful films I doubt this would fairly occupy positions 1, 2 or possibly even 3.

Does it even matter what the rating is? Most I discuss films with recognise imbd ratings to be an idiot meter, and only (some of) the reviews are of value, and entirely contextual..

What's the difference between one idiot voting up hundred times, and 100 idiots each voting down just to hate on a film unfairly?

Are you serious?

One guy trying to skew the vote one way can only mean one thing, a totally dishonest result, but a hundred people voting means at least some honest votes.

Some of the people who rated this movie a 3 genuinely believed that's all it is worth, but the loser who gave it 150+ votes of 10 was trying to rig the score, probably because he has a vested professional interest.

reply

Maybe he genuinely loves it 100 times as much as you hate it.

The school holiday theory is still valid until disproved, and the site might not update in real time. It might have looked that negative, and then it updated lending the appearance of vote bombing.

People give rubbish films 10s all the time, and usually by Christopher Nolan.

LOL. That's so stupid it's funny. (Plus, I don't hate this movie.)
😁
Notice how actual voters are gradually bringing the score back down to a truer level now that the votebomber has run out of steam. I guess it's time for him to start registering another bunch of fake accounts!

reply

Well, I defer to your expertise on such things.
