Good Movie (Slight Spoilers)

I don't understand the low rating on this one (currently 4.5). I enjoyed it and would recommend it to people who enjoy slower paced films. I have grown tired of block-buster style movies and have turned to Netflix and Amazon to find smaller, independent films that don't bombard me with action and special effects, so this is right up my alley. I especially like movies with a sci-fi fantasy bend and have been into post-apocalyptic movies lately. This one is a good entry in that last category. I thought the acting and writing were excellent and the production values were quite good as well. I thought the relationship between the two characters felt real- if you were the last two people (that you knew of), you would take special care in your dealings with each other, as displayed by their sincere apologies when they did inevitably clash. I really felt the loneliness of being the last two, then the last one person- very good filmmaking to be able to get that across so well. The scene where they are so happy and excited to think there may be more people- the anticipation of that meeting- extremely well done. Again, I think this one deserves more in the 6-7 range, at least on my scale- I tend to go by Ebert's philosophy when considering ratings- I wouldn't judge this one based on Oscar level films but when compared to other independent, lower budget films in a similar genre, this one is definitely above average.
